One stubborn baby...

So, I'm 40 weeks pregnant, 5cm dilated, 0% effaced and had my membranes swept almost 48 hours ago, and the contractions have pretty much stopped since my doctor swept my membranes. My hubby and I have tried everything (except using oils) to get this baby here and she just isn't interested. I would rather not do the induction with pitocin and other hormones because then you are stuck in bed and hooked up to many monitors until baby gets here. Any suggestions??

I went two weeks over.Id had a sweep and it didnt work the first time but when i went in just to get monitored as i refused an induction as baby was happy where he was they did another and that set off labour.i tried all the tricks but nothing worked except that.

You are only 40 weeks, don't worry! Relax, try to keep pottering around. Baby will come when good and ready. a normal pregnancy is between 37 and 42 completed weeks so really, try not to get hung up on the 40 weeks thing. You wouldn't even know you were 5cm had you not had an internal.

I agree with indith,i got so much aggro from labour ward to have an induction but i went for monitoring and baby was fine so i stuck to my guns and two weeks to the day over i had a natural birth and a 9lb 9oz overcooked baby Grin

Just wait if baby is healthy and not distressed. My overused quote the the dr " he is going to come eventually!"
