At least that is what it feels like.
Saw doctors on monday at 40+2. Apparently 4cm dilated so she booked me for induction on tuesday morning. (Long story but had mild shoulder distocia last time and doctors can't seem to agree if this baby is big or not , despite numerous growth scans.so she didn't want me to go over too much)
Went in on Tuesday and head was too high to do ARM, so spent the morning bouncing on ball and pacing the corridors to get head down.In the mean time consultants changed and the new one(on paper actually my consultant, not that I had ever seen him before) said the baby was not too big and as my cervix is very favourable he wanted to give me a chance to have a natural delivery and give me another week before induction.
He was very nice and what he said actually agreed with NICE and RCOG guidelines so I was quite happy to escape the oxytocin drip for a bit.
I did have sweep on tuesday when the midwife did the exam and had a bloody show but the baby is stubbornly refusing to budge.
Spending every waking hour bouncing on my ball and drinking raspberry leaf tea.
I'm rather fed up now!

Have some rhubarb and custard Wink.

Hassled · 07/11/2013 21:51

Cue a long line of posts top-trumping you with their pregnancy lengths :o.

I'll start - DC1 went to 40+14. That was back in the late 80s when that was allowed. I ate fruit pastilles and watched Neighbours for an entire month - I swear as a newborn DC1 would stop crying when he heard the Neighbours theme tune.

Playing football with DC3 got DC4 out - do you have any balls that need a good kicking?

RandomMess · 07/11/2013 21:53

Went 17 days over with dc2 and still didn't go into labour on my own, just booked myself in at +14 for the subsequent 2!!

rainyrainrain · 07/11/2013 21:54

Oh DD would love to play football with me, might give that a go tomorrow. Though I resemble a lumbering elephant.

What annoys me the most is that DD was a week early, had rather hoped for similar this time.

toffeesponge I love rhubarb and custard! Fed up with pineapple now too, would be nice for a change.

I reckon when it does happen it's going to be mighty quick...

toffeesponge · 07/11/2013 22:07

Pack your bag before you indulge!

rainyrainrain · 07/11/2013 22:09

Thats the scary part, we need to deposit DD at SIL's house. Think they will have to pick her up from the hospital.I made DH stay off work so we can go fast.

40+15 here after four induction attempts. If I ever have DC2, I will just resign myself to being pregnant forever and sit on the sofa ignoring it. I never want to spend 6 days in hospital ever again!

RandomMess · 07/11/2013 22:13

Four attempts using what? How long have you been stuck in there for?

toffeesponge · 08/11/2013 07:21

Any rainy or Surfing babies???

rainyrainrain · 08/11/2013 07:49

nope, nothing here. rhubarb and football in the park is the plan for today.

OP posts:
toffeesponge · 08/11/2013 07:54

Don't forget the custard!

BraveLilBear · 08/11/2013 08:17

And here was me thinking that 4cm was the magic 'active labour' marker? Hope it all kicks off soon
...
Out of interest, is the park on the way to the hospital?

Good luck all!

Squitten · 08/11/2013 18:08

Currently 40+9 and nothing happening. Midwife coming for sweep no.2 tomorrow.

Surfing Surely they give you a section and get it over with by now?

Squitten · 08/11/2013 18:09

Should have said this is DC3 and DC2 was a great birth on his due date so this is really grating!

canadajin · 08/11/2013 18:47

Glad I'm not alone. 40+5 with dc3 as bouncing as I type. Ds1 was 41+2 and dd was 41+4. My threats to this one have been unfruitful. Enough!

CherryLips1980 · 08/11/2013 19:35

40+6 here. Booked in to be induced tomorrow. Hope yours is successful soon!!

LouiseD29 · 08/11/2013 19:57

Ah, I feel for you. I went to 40+10 with DD but when she finally decided to be born she popped out in under two hours.

Good luck!

Bragadocia · 08/11/2013 20:02

I thought rhubarb and custard was a euphemism! But rhubarb actually does supposedly induce labour; well I never.

satsumagirl · 08/11/2013 20:09

I went to 42+ 3 with DC2. I sympathise. The waiting drove me nuts! All worth it in end. Also, have noticed that my daughter (coming up to 1 year now) is hardly ever ill, which is surprising for a baby at nursery. I think it's cos she was born when she was ready. She was v healthy and alert from the moment she arrived.

RandomMess · 08/11/2013 20:15

TBH with nos 3 & 4 I just assumed I'd be induced at 42 weeks so didn't actually consider my baby late...

rainyrainrain · 08/11/2013 23:43

Another day done and nothing happening. Dum de dum.
Just as well I like rhubarb!
Good luck to all in the same boat!

"Man up" you're only 41 weeks today Wink
