Hello,

I had some issues with my vaginal/ perineum region after 2 children, here is the link to my thread with the details if anyone interested www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childbirth/1864267-Vaginal-repairs-post-birth

So my GP referred me to gynaecologist. I am happy about it but anxious. Does anyone know what I can expect to happen next?

My perineum got wrecked after a 3rd degree tear so I was referred (went privately in the end). I had a full "refashion" and rectocele repair as a daycase and now have a "designer vagina" Grin

Tea1Sugar why did you decide to go privately at the end?
Daycase does it mean it was out patient procedure?

Yeh surgery at 8am, took an hour then home by 6pm. I went privately just because of long waiting lists and it was considered a small procedure despite the pain and need for full refashion and so it would have been done by a registrar but I wanted to ensure it was done by a consultant. I wanted the best man for the job basically. It cost £1600 all in: surgeon's fees, anaesthetist fees, bed for the day, antibiotics and painkillers when I left.

Thank you tea1sugar for this information.
Is it common for registrar to do this kind of surgery at nhs? And not by consultant?
The fee is a lot lower than I thought it will be?
Could you make surgent recomendation? I am just north if london.

Sorry that was just the cost of the day itself. Pre and post-op consultations were about £180 each time. I had mr pooley at new Victoria hospital, sw London. He will also be delivering my next baby via csection in April

thank you for this information. i will also look into private treatment.
I don't want no registrar messing about with my bits...
