Labour or unwell?

Ok Friday night had spot bleeding on underwear, think I had been losing the mucus plug all week, DS came home from a sleep over at GP house early Saturday morning very poorly, sick, temp etc. This morning I woke up with the same bug, sickness temp and my body aching Sad

But throughout the day I've been having bouts of lower back pain, which resulted in me having 3 warm baths today to try and dull the pain. Went to bed with this dull very sore back ache managed to sleep till 2am and now the pain is very bad and I can't sleep, noting takes the pain away, sitting, walking, birthing ball nothing, it's so sore Sad

DS was back to back and my labour started off like this, but I don't know if this is labour or just pain from being unwell and catching the bug? I have bouts of being freezing to then being too hot, I'm pretty dizzy whenever I stand up Sad

I'm 39+1, does this sound like labour or just unwell? Dp is due to start work in 1 hour and he doesn't know weather to go or not, and I don't want him to miss paternity time if this isn't it Confused last week I had a false start too...

Of you have gotten this far then well done!! I look forward to your replies x

Sounds v like labour to me!!!!

KalevalaForMePlease · 28/10/2013 05:19

Ooh, this could be it, GreenGiant! Does your DP work far away? Could he go to work and then come back if things progress?

GreenGiant3 · 28/10/2013 05:25

My DS labour was 50+ hours from first contraction, which resulted in me having an epidural due to being so tired, I hope this one isn't the same! Do you think this baby is back to back also? Because of the pain in my back again?

DP works about and hour away?

Ouch I forgot how sore this is Sad its constant pain which is worrying me as how am I meant to time contractions? How will I know how far I am Blush

X

I would ring the ward for advice. It's possible you have the bug and you're also in labour.

KalevalaForMePlease · 28/10/2013 05:41

I agree with Coola, ring and ask. They'll put your mind at ease.

LovesBeingHereAgain · 28/10/2013 05:44

Exciting (but painful) hope you've rang for advice given previous b2b

GreenGiant3 · 28/10/2013 05:57

Called midwife at hospital, she thinks it's the early stages and also it sounds as if baby is B2B - which can also prolong labour- she advised that when my contractions become stronger I will be able to time intensity.. So not to worry on that front BlushSad

While I was on the phone I could hear a lady in labour screaming for dear life, BlushConfused that's made me more nervous Confused

Need to wait until the shops open and send DP for heat pads and a hot water bottle, why have I left it to last minute Sad

Dp has decided to stay with me until 11 then decide if he is going to work depending on my progression

Good luck Green Giant Smile =. Labour for me with DS was heralded by 12 hours of v&d. The midwife set it was very common. Who knew?

If it's any help with the nerves, I'd do it all again at the drop of a hat Smile

KalevalaForMePlease · 28/10/2013 06:18

Good luck OP, try to stay calm, soon this will all be a distant memory and you'll have a lovely, squishy new baby to cuddle! Just keep thinking of that new baby smell! Grin

mustardtomango · 28/10/2013 06:18

Good luck green giant! Glad your dp is staying with you. Just think, you'll be able to snuggle with your new lo soon! Xx

GreenGiant3 · 28/10/2013 06:26

Good luck!

GreenGiant3 · 28/10/2013 13:58

Oh ladies this slow labour is horrible, DP has went to work, reluctantly, but I think I'm going to be like this for a while, pain is really bad but still bearable just now, I have a heat pad on but doesn't seem to be doing much good! Baby is really active, but it's actually really sore when he moves so it's making it a bit more worse, really need a sleep but that's providing difficult with pain... Hopefully not long now x

Hi GreenGiant, I'm just up here and came on to check on you! Hope everything's going well and you have your little baby by now!

LaTrucha · 28/10/2013 21:13

How are you getting on Green? I went into hospital in the end because I just lost bloody patience with it, not because, at that point, it was hurting too much. I don't really know why they let me stay Grin

notanyanymore · 28/10/2013 21:15

Good luck op!
