Hi has anyone had successs using dilators. I have had a lot of problems since I had an anterior repair and TVT operation four years ago . I also had a TAH hysterectomy. I was left with significant pain issues and put on a lot of pain medications which I have successfuly managed to stop but I have been left unable to have sex because penetration hurts too much. I have been given dilators and can tolerate all but the bigget one. I managed to block it all out most of the time but its getting me down and i should like to her from anyone who has successfully managed to stretch their body after a similar experience. I am so sorry if this is TMI and I hope I havent offended or scared anyone.

You sound like me. Couldn't tolerate sex for 2 years after a 3rd degree tear. I tried dilators and psychosexual therapy. In the end I paid for 6 sessions of CBT. I'm now 14 weeks pregnant with dc2. Good luck just dont force yourself into anything you're not comfortable with.

Tea1Sugar. How did CBT help. How could you talk yourself out of the pain? I have never met anyone who has had a similar experience. Could you expand your reply and explain how it is for you now. Did your body adapt. ?

Congratulations on dc2. Such a lovely thing to look forward to - a new life, a new beginning

I've know idea how it helped tbh. It was a last straw and I was doubtful about it but desperate. My partner has been nothing but supportive but after 2 years of no sex I was willing to try anything. I paid privately for the therapy and it involved some hypnosis essentially taking me back through the birth which was horrible but it only took 6 sessions and i could tolerate sex. Tolerate because I was still apprehensive of pain but after four or five times it became much better. If it wasn't for my therapist my 3year old wouldn't be expecting a sibling and my partner would (though never said it) I believe walked. It saved us x
