Anyone had 3rd baby with Strep B?

im a bit worried as last time I was induced and I still almost missed my antibiotics as actual labour turned out to be very quick and not had enough time for it to go down in my system then we ended up staying in hospital for a good few days as they thought baby had an infection because of strep B.
at the same time I don't want to rush into hospital at the very early sign of labour as midwife said they would still not give me antib until im in established labour.
so it's a bit of a worry not to mention that have no real back up plan for childcare so just have to hope that someone will be available when needed Shock
any advice would be appreciated

im nearly due with no.4... i tested positive for strep b this time but my previous 3 i didnt even get tested... i werent aware of the private test before.
so i didnt have antibiotics with any of them and they were all long induced births with ages between waters breaking to delivery. i count myself very lucky to have 3 healthy kids, and thankful i did the test this time x

I got tested years ago after dc1 because I had thrush and my gp called me to say I had strep B but never been tested since as where I live they just assume that once you have it, you can always have it. I also asked If I could pay for a private strep B testing just in case it's not in my system any more and I wouldn't have to worry about the antib as would also like to go for waterbirth this time and I was told that even if that test came back negative it's still not definite that it's not in my system so better to be safe and just go with it so that's what im doing but wish I could plan a bit better!

I had b strep with dc2, came back positive just after she was born, i had been swabbed at the midwife appointment but dd arrived a little early so before I had the result. We stayed in hospital 48 hours but she showed no sign of infection.

I was worried because her labour had been literally one hour start to finish that I wouldn't have time for the antibiotics with dc3 but I wasn't offered them anyway. Apparently in our area they only treat you if you test positive in the current pregnancy. We stayed in for 24 hours after birth just to monitor ds but he showed no signs and we were allowed home.

i think once youre a carrier, your always a carrier, but it could colonize in your fanjo in one pregnancy but not in a subsequent one. therefore you can test positive during one pregnancy but then the next one negative.
think it would be worth retesting for a current pregnancy, you never know. i honestly thought i wouldnt have it but i do xx

they way my dr explained it that even if I get a negative result as it's very low in my system a few days or weeks later it could be up again and so he said the result wouldn't be very reliable so im happy to go with the antib it's just making it a bit more stressful. im 37 weeks now so hopefully I won't have to wait too long Smile
