Post EMCS poo - avoid if TMI!

I had an EMCS a week ago today & every poo since has been this odd foul smelling grey/ black stuff, ranging from diarrhoea consistency to water with iron filings in it (sorry, I did warn it was tmi!).

I think they gave me some sort of pain relief in a pessary up my bum, so think this may be why. Anyone had the same, and if so when did it go back to normal?

Many thanks

If we are going for TMI here, I had an EMCS and had my first post op poo at the hospital - day 3 or 4. But we are talking play dough consistency and multi colour.
Definite on the pessary too.

Also tmi - mine was black for weeks. No idea why, although I was given a glycerine suppository to get things going, so it may have had a residual effect. The Midwife told me that basically all bets are off when it comes to this sort of thing, and that add long as you're producing something, they're happy!

Rally, I've found the answer today so thought I'd share. .. apparently the black is from the iron tablets & the looseness is from the anti inflammatories (diclofenac), so nothing to worry about Smile
