Can I request induction at 41wks?

That's it really...I went 41+6 before being induced with DS1 and had a fairly dramatic birth due to meconium and having a huge baby. I'm getting close to my due date now with DC2 and starting to worry about going overdue again. So I'm wondering if it's likely that I'll be able to request an induction any earlier than last time, say, 41 weeks? (I'm at London St Thomas' if anyone has any direct experience of this) I'll speak to my MW at next appointment but thought I might get some insight here too!
Thanks!

I did, and they agreed - it took a bit of sobbing, but it was due to DC1 being over 4kg at 41 weeks, his birth being a forceps delivery, and childcare issues for him whilst I was having DC2.

In the end, the consultant put 'induce at 40+7' on my notes, and I called them at 40+6 and wept down the phone because my parents (who were visiting to look after DS) had changed their plans, so weren't going to be around as long as I had been told (best not to get me started on that issue...), and I was scared that DH wouldn't be able to be with me at the birth. They eventually agreed, and I was induced that evening, DD was born the next day (also over 4kg, and also forceps!!), and my parents decided to stay down here a bit longer after all

Despite all the issues surrounding the birth, I would do it again just to have DH with me - would hate having a less traumatic birth but without him present. But that may just be me!

Thanks kveta, I think ill try the same thing with the tears-won't be hard! Mine was over 4kg too and it did add to the trauma somewhat! Confused

I am in same situation, currently 40+5. Had consultant appointment yesterday, explained my concerns (no sobbing required) and they agreed to early induction. Hospital is very busy, so the earliest induction appointment available is this Tuesday, when I will be 40+9. Still, slightly better than the 40+12 date that it would have been otherwise.
I had a >4 kg baby last time, forceps and PPH, I am also nearly 40 and had a 'gritty' placenta when DS came out at 40+14, 3 years ago. They didn't push back on my request at all, they were quite happy to go along with it.
