Embarassing problem with flatus post third degree tear

I had a third degree tear with my second 4 years ago.

Now pregnant with third and will have a meeting with obstetrician to discuss options.

I would like a vaginal birth. I healed well generally but here's the embarrasing bit, when I pass wind it often comes through my vagina as well.

Is this something to be worried about?

Hi, no advice but could you let me know the outcome, as I have the same problem. I am not pregnant, but do wonder what to do if we decide to have another one.
Thanks

This sounds wrong. Flatus can only exit the vagina if a hole called a fistula is there. This needs medical review. If there is a fistula then a surgical repair is needed. I don't want to make you anxious but this is serious.

Sometimes if the anus is weak after an injury it doesn't control flatus and the weak muscle tone can make it feel like it's coming from the vagina. This is important because another vaginal birth might make it worse. A specialist physio might be able to help.

You must tell the obstetrician because it will affect how you are advised regarding delivery.

I have this also Blush

Only got it after my 2nd vaginal birth. Haven't spoken to any health professional about it as I assumed everyone had it.
