Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I want to get one of those tummy belts that help push you back into place. I've heard lots of Good things about them' I bought one on eBay, but it's more stretchy than a pair of tights! No good to me... Has anyone got a good one? Or can anyone recommend where to look? Thank you :-)

first of all congratulations on baby!

if you've given birth recently I wouldn't advise anything just yet, but let your internal organs get back to their places as your womb is shrinking back down.

so, how old is that sweet little baby of yours?

6 days :-)

well, you should use the stretchy ones to help you feel less wobbly and give you a bit of support, but please don't use anything else just yet!

please don't feel you have to look perfect with a washboard stomach! I know you'd like to get back into shape asap, but your body is doing just that on it's own, no point rushing things!

you are still recovering from birth and trust me there are more important things to focus on for yourself, like sleep and drinking lot of water!

after your 6 weeks check up your shape will be different and if you still want to, you can start using the correct product. I wonder if you mean something like a corset?

I am not saying you should only focus on baby, but believe me if you are patient with your yet again adjusting body you'll feel happier!

I wish you all the best

I gave birth to my second child 3 weeks ago. After the first pregnancy I did not bind my belly. It took ages for everything to move back in on its own. I remember going to the gym 6 month after and looking at my belly in the mirror in changing room thinking what a nightmare.
This time around I had a big baby over 9 pounds. I got umbilical hernia during pregnancy and knew that my muscles will be separated. Because of that I looked into belly binding. I went a bit crazy and got 3 different supports because I wanted make sure I had something just in case one does not fit.
My muscles indeed did separate 4 finger or more width.
So this is what I did. I left hospital wearing a belly bandit type belt. It was from company called vespa and the lady bird, a friend landed to me. It was not particularly great but did the job. I wore it for 4 days and took it of for shower only. Without it I had so much pain in first couple of days I could not walk due to my muscle separation. It gave me back support I needed and compressed things a bit enough for the next step. After that i was able to fit into the bellefit girdle. I got dual closure one which only available from their website in America right now but the uk amazon sells other once too from the same company. If you have a friend in america that can bring it to you it comes up a lot cheaper, that what i did but i believe they ship to uk too. The dual one supposedly is good for muscle separation and it has different levels you can close it, so lets say you could not zip it right away but there are still hooks to keep it on. This girdle is surgical grade and excellent. After wearing just a day I could see it working. I am now 3 weeks after baby and my stomach looks better than before I got pregnant minus the loose skin which I am currently combating with mama mio belly creams.
I wear the girdle day and night as well just take it of for showers. I also do tupler exercise which are just breathing and holding type exercises. It was expensive but best purchase for post pregnancy so far. I feel such confidence and really am proud of myself, my husband complements me all the time on my figure. They advice to wear for 6 weeks. I am currently doing long stroll walks whith my two babies as well. I have fat pouch at the bottom I recon that will only go away with exercise and healthy diet.
I highly recommend belly binding, my midwife also said it was good idea to go it especially because of my muscle separation. I am still waiting on Physio referral but now almost closed my gap.
I hope this helps and good luck getting back into shape.

I bought a Belly Bandit after my last pregnancy, but I left it too late, around the 3-month mark and it didn't really work for me. You might be ok though. I think Amazon sold them, they were expensive though.
