DC2 and stuck in the latent phase... Again...

I had 8 solid hours of painful contractions last night, between 5 and 3 mins apart. Packed bags, called mum and went to hospital, at which point I was having 4 contractions in 10 mins. The midwife thought I was about to give birth until she examined me and discovered I was only 1 bloody cm dilated. Contractions eventually tailed off and I'm home again. Am so upset and disappointed - I had a really long latent phase with DS1 and my community midwife was very reassuring that it 'hardly ever' happened with a second labour. What a crock of shite. Does anyone have any reassuring words please?

Aww. I had more of the "is this it" stuff with dc3 compared to the other 2.

Try to look on the positive side (if you can) and see it as your body getting ready?

When she was eventually born it was quicker and easier than the other two.

Oh poor you, it's tough isn't it. I hope things are improving. I also had a fairly short labour from 4cm so there's hope.

Sorry that makes no sense without me saying I had an extremely long latent phase too. The contractions were very strong for most of it.

Thank you everyone, you were right... After a 24 hour break contractions started again and DS2 was born after 3 hours of fast and furious labour. All safe and well and at home. Very painful but definitely better than first labour, if anyone else finds themselves in the same position!

Brilliant news, congratulations! Thanks Thanks I'm so glad it was better.
