Pains on a night at 38 weeks

Rachael200694 · 21/08/2013 14:58

During the night when I've been asleep for the past week I've been getting really strong period pains and some across my bump. Last night was the strongest I've had yet and nearly brought me to tears!
Has anyone experienced the same or know why this is happening? During the day I just get mild pains occasionally

Yep. Today's the day. I'm so fed up now. I can't be bothered to cook....or do anything. I feel really heavy. I brought stuff to make shortbread this morning then got home and fell asleep. DH called from work and woke me up and i bit his head off!!
I'm getting lots of braxton hicks though.

Swiss roll sounds amazing. The whole rolling of the sponge cake without it breaking issue sounds a tad complicated!

Yes we have got a top secret name, we've got a back up grls name too, just in case they got it wrong!

When is your DD?

Rachael200694 · 28/08/2013 20:01

Oh bless you! No wonder you're feeling a bit off it though, it's tiring just the waiting part never mind the physical part too! Hope you said sorry to your poor DH though GrinWink

I love shortbread! It's one of my favourites to make Smile
It was my first Swiss roll today and I didn't crack it somehow! Was rather pleased with myself.

I'm due on the 3rd so about a week behind you! Been having more pains and pressure for the past few hours and even had some clear discharge, guessing its my plug coming away! Grin Getting excited but it'll no doubt stop and leave me disappointed haha Confused

Ooh top secret names!! You'll have to tell me when he's born Smile it's George for us, we picked it in January then had it stolen by those bloody royals Wink then Rosie if he happens to lack a willy!

OP posts:
catinabox · 28/08/2013 21:06

Ah...George! We are thinking of using that as a middle name. It's a family name and also lovely. Sound's like you got there first, bloody royals! Rosie is a lovely name too.

Ooooooo plug!! I'm really excited for you :). That's brilliant.

I've got shortbread in the oven now (with lavender from out of the garden) and DH's dinner on the go so feeling lots better!

Enjoy the swiss roll! (Don't know about you but my DH doesn't know what's going on..coming home to baking and regular meals!...i don't think he's going to want me to go back to work at all!)

Come on babies we want cuddles!

Rachael200694 · 28/08/2013 22:49

Yeah it's a family name for us too, on my partners side Smile I like it cause it's traditional but I don't think it's mega old fashioned like some names.
Where is it you're from if you don't mind me asking? Smile

I bet your DH can't believe his luck, he best enjoy it while he can cause soon you'll be too busy making someone else's tea Smile

Do you know how long you'll be having off work? I'm thinking of going back next may when my money runs out, wanting to get plenty of time while he's little and I've got some other things I can get done in that time too!

I've never heard of this lavender with shortbread until today when they said it on the tv! Smile

Morning! No baby yet? Me neither!

We are in the east mids. I'm going to have to go back to work in March sadly. I've got a horse so without my income we can't quite manage it all.

I work from home a lot so it should be easy to juggle (hopefully!)

Any signs today? I'm still getting BH and managed a whole nights sleep without vomiting!! Hooray!

Rachael200694 · 29/08/2013 13:50

No baby! :(

Ooh, I'm from Yorkshire myself Smile
That's brill that you can work from home though, if he's a good baby I'm sure it'll be manageable! Smile
Also, how nice that you've got a horse! Bet that's lovely!

I thought things were happening cause I had a dull ache and pressure for hours last night so I thought it'd keep going and getting stronger! But it keeps coming and going today so I'm all morngey haha! Hmm

These babies will be born onto the naughty step for keeping us waiting Wink although, I think it's going to come round really quick for us both cause there's not long left to go! Smile

Hi Rachael! How are you doing? I'm o.k. Saw midwife today and they've booked me a sweep next week and induction the week after if baby still not here.

I've been getting some really massive uncomfortable twinges today so I'm really hoping it won't be long. MW said that he is fully engaged and couldn't get any lower down too.

Whoop whoop!

Yes, have been out and watched someone else ride horse today,. So so tempting to jump on!! (sure that would get things moving too) Luckily i've got sensible friends that wouldn't let me!

Lucky you, parts of yorkshire are lovely.

I have been chatting to people today that all went over due with first baby, i think it's just how it goes really.

Hope you are finding some more nice things to do to keep busy.

Rachael200694 · 31/08/2013 16:15

I'm doing ok thank you Smile

Have you any news for me yet? How exciting about the twinges!!
I've had a few bits of plug coming out each day, once with some blood clots in so I'm hoping things are going to get going!!

Hoping if we both get to the sweep stage they will work! Because a friend of mine had two that didn't work, but she had no twinges or pains what so ever and was induced at 42 weeks!
So my thinking is ours might work because we've got pains and things so hopefully we just need a little bit of encouragement for the rest! Smile

Hope you are well and keeping busy! I'm bored to tears myself! Grin

Just been to the loo and discovered more plug type stuff! Making my mum come walk me round the village (don't wanna go alone!) in the hope it'll help move things along Grin

How are you doing? Looks like this is our own private thread here!

Well, I have absolutely nothing to report, re pains twinges, BH etc. This baby it appears, is never coming out !

The Acid Reflux has reached a whole new level of horrible though....

I am booked for an induction on Tuesday. really don't want to have it. DH wants me to go ahead with it but i'm worried that it'll be a more difficult labour if it's not natural.

Your DD is just the other side of tonight! ? How is it going? Are you there yet?

Mumof3xx · 03/09/2013 22:34

I had this for a week before I had ds2!

Rachael200694 · 03/09/2013 22:41

I've had it on and off for weeks now mum of 3, wish he'd just hurry up haha Smile

And glad to hear back from you! Was starting to think a little someone had made an appearance Grin

It's a shame to hear nothing has happened for you so far, and I entirely understand your worries bless you! It's a hard one to call, some people have lovely births even after being induced. Eg. My cousin recently had to be induced at 37 weeks and had a nice quick labour and delivery! So don't be too worried Smile

Nothing to report here really, just waiting for my sweep! Two more sleeps to go, very excited but worried as I'm convinced it'll work but it might not do if I thought realistically haha! Confused

Try not to worry about being induced, little one still has chance to make an appearance before then! Plus there's no reason it won't still be a lovely birth Smile

Thanks Rachel, that's reassuring. Am having sweep number 2 tomorrow so that might help things along.

I have just read a brilliant thread on here nothing yet showofhands has made some brilliant points about the pressure of it all.

The most annoying thing is the pressure from DH. He took his annual leave 4 days after DD, every day this blimming baby isn't here he feels like he's losing time with him.

We went blackberry picking today and had a long walk and great dinner together so it's not all bad. :)

Glad you are doing well.

Rachael200694 · 03/09/2013 22:55

Did they say anything about your cervix when you had your first sweep? I'm really interested to know what's going on in there haha! I'm hoping I'm a cm or 2 dilated at least!

Least you and DH are getting some time together before the baby arrives on the plus side. I can completely understand him worrying about missing time with the baby but try not to feel pressured, he'll just be anxious not to miss out! Smile

I'm going to try find that thread and have a read!

OP posts:
catinabox · 03/09/2013 23:49

No, she couldn't reach properly. I thought exactly the same and wondered whether i'd be a bit dilated, given all the cramps. She felt his head though, that was the strangest feeling!!

Im really glad to have crossed the September threshold though. Starting school as a just four year old can be really hard.

When is your sweep booked for?

Yes read the thread it's called 'still nothing'!

I'm going to just try and chill out a bit about it all now.......but...........still..........COME ON BABIES!!! Smile

Rachael200694 · 04/09/2013 00:05

Oh dear that isn't good haha! I was hoping the pains were a good sign for us! Confused
Have you had any plug come out at all? Or tonnes of pressure on your bladder all the time?

My sweep is on Thursday Smile hoping there'll be a baby by the weekend but its blind hope haha, trying to keep positive!!

Yeah i was happy about the September threshold too, will make things much easier when they start nursery bless them! It's strange to think some children in their class won't even have been conceived yet!

OP posts:
catinabox · 04/09/2013 00:23

I just remembered she did say it had softened!

No, not so much, my hips feel really heavy and i'm going to the loo a lot!. I haven't had any plug or really anything happen to be honest. Zilch!

I can't sleep either. Acid reflux is horrid. Had a little shooting pain/cramp session just now.

Do you feel like youve been pregnant forever?

Rachael200694 · 04/09/2013 00:35

Ooh softening is good! Smile
Really hope things happen the second time round for you!!

How strange, I've just been sat on my bed having some stabbing pains! Never had them so close together before, it wasn't very pleasant but it made me excited as usual haha Smile I could feel him moving around and it was causing the pains!

What were yours like, anything new? Smile

And yes!! I think I've been pregnant for life, and will continue to be Shock haha! That's honestly how it feels Grin
