Hi

As title suggests I am looking for experiences of third elcs and likely recovery. I am having my 3rd elcs soon at the age of 41 and while the previous two have been as good as can be expected I am worried that this one will be much harder - looking for reassuance!

My 3rd elcs was the easiest. The actual op took longer but my recovery was easier. I think a lot of that was knowing what to expect and what I could and couldn't do for the first few days, going by past experience.

The 3rd time my midwife couldn't believe how well I was so soon.

Good luck with yours. Smile

My 3rd (& final) was also the best!

The actual op & recovery fab & straight forward.

I don't know if it made a difference but healthcare assistant asked me the same day if I wanted to get up & go for shower etc.. So approx 12 hours.. The previous 2 I hadn't been asked til following day so I said I'd rather wait til morning & it was relatively pain free 24 hours after. Catheter & drain removed .. Drain was uncomfortable coming out but expected that.

I am a lone parent but had my mum stay for first 4 days to give me my antibiotic injectionsShock(was tablets with dc's 1 & 2, so that was a shock)!! So I took things a little easy for a few days, I did all the night feeds but my mum helped bath ds & cook dinner for everyone & the school runs. By day 7 I was back to normal school runs, house work etc.. Even carrying ds in his pram down from my 1st floor flat!!!

So I tell friends behave for first few days & you will recover quicker!!

Good luck Smile

Thanks!

Good tip about taking it easy -

This is why I asked for elcs only because I fully believe that emcs means your poor body is pretty beat up before you start trying to recover! So I wanted like for like results.

3rd and 4th were by far the easiest.

rainbowfeet is dead right. The easier you take it in the first week, the quicker you're back to normal.
