We are planning on TTC dc2 in a few months and will moving toa new home in walthamstow at the same time, so all being well/successful will need a maternity unit around there.

Does anyone know anything about best maternity units around there? Ds (dc1) was born in Manchester so out of the question to go back there although had a good experience..

I had ds at UCH and it was an amazing experience with some great midwives who let me take control and make my own decisions.

The birthing suite is lovely, very clean new ward with huge birthing pools and big sofas, mats, swings, stools etc

Good luck!

It's in Euston btw

Although UCH is a very good hospital I wouldn't like to travel from Walthamstow to Euston in active labour.

Your nearest one is North Middlesex University Hospital.

When I found out I was pregnant we were living in Gants Hill (also North-East London). Best hospital near there IMO is Homerton. My GP only wanted to refer me to King George - no way I was giving birth there. Their maternity services are under review due to a high death rate.

However we moved a couple of weeks later to the other side of London so I don't have actual experience with the Homerton. You can find nearest hospitals on the NHS website and compare stats.

I travelled from Muswell hill and it was fine but everyone feels differently. I would prefer to travel a little further for quality. Definitely don't go to North Mid.

Yor local hospital in Walthamstow will either be Whipps Cross or Homerton.

Look on the NHS website for stats and visit them both. Good luck!

Thanks all! What stats are key? I'm trying to gauge overall non bullying staff, midwives who genuinely listen really..
