Hi Dellabob, Hang on in there. The final stages of pregnancy and thoughts of labour are so tough.

I was in a similar situation to you 14 weeks ago. I really wanted a water birth and was terrified of induction, especially the drip. DD was was a week late when my waters broke. After 24 hours I'd got to 2cm dilated but as my waters had gone and nothing was happening I agreed to induction by drip. It was the right decision for me though had my waters not gone I might have chosen to hang on.

I didn't get my natural start or water birth but induction wasn't as bad as I'd feared. I had excellent care and it was over very quickly, 4 hours from induction to DD arriving. The midwife advised me to have an epidural which I'm glad I did as it got very intense, I won't lie it was bloody painful, but I found my body knew what to do.

One of my worries was that induction can lead to forceps or a c-section but ironically I was the only one from my NCT group who was induced and the only one not to have forceps or an emergency c-section. So my induction was very positive even though it wasn't what I'd planned.

You'll be holding your beautiful baby in your arms very soon and labour will be forgotten.

Good luck x

Hi Teapig,

thank you for sharing, that's really good to know.

I've postponed the induction tomorrow and will have another monitoring/sweep session instead. If that doesn't work and nothing happens then we will go in possibly Sunday knowing we gave it our best shot.

I must admit, my biggest fear is exactly the same as yours - forceps or c-section as a result of my body not being naturally prepared for labour. However, your story has helped me. Although the only lady currently in my NCT group was induced, which failed and led to c-section!!! she's fine and has a wonderful baby boy, but it was pretty traumatic for her.

I guess we never know what we're going to get, but its nice to hear the positive side of induction o htelp get your head around things.

Will keep you posted :-)

Fingers crossed things start for you before the weekend dellabob but if not don't worry too much about induction. I'm the world's biggest wuss (was actually shaking when I was gowned up) and induction was a very positive experience.

Just focus on holding your beautiful little baby in your arms very soon.
