Anyone induced but went into labour before drip stage?

My induction is tomorrow and hoping for some positive induction stories. After two sweeps they booked me in tomorrow starting with gel in the morning. I fear the drip, has anyone had a good induction story of just waters/ gel intervention.

Yes. I had one pessary. They were about to give me another one because nothing was happening when my waters suddenly went (with a loud bang!) - and labour started in earnest.

In the end I needed the drip to get me from 9 to 10cm (grrr) but by that time I was happily under the influence of an epidural and entonox so I didn't really notice it. In the end I needed an emcs but that was unrelated to the induction etc.

Good luck! Will keep fingers crossed for you.

i was induced with dc2 last year. i had gel in morning and not much happened except for some nerve pains shooting down one leg. then i had another dose of the gel at 5pm. and by 6.30 it was all kicking off. my waters exploded into the midwife's face while she was checking how dilated i wasAngry and my dd was born an hour later like she had been fired out of a rocket! very different from dc1 who came naturally but took 3 days!

I was induced but only had gel. I didn't even have my waters broken. Tbh it wasn'a bad experience for me at all. Good luck for tomorrow!

I had the pessary at 10am, started having pains about 2-3pm, in labour proper by tea time. Went into hospital at 8pm, was 5cms dilated, and DS was born at 4am. He was my first so nothing to compare it to, but it was fine - I consider myself quite lucky!

Good luck OP!

I had the pessary at 10am. Started with proper contractions at 10.20 am. Waters went naturally at 3pm. Ds was born at 7.24 pm. He was back to back and I had severe SPD and other complications, and I managed it much to my own surprise with no pain relief whatsoever. ( although the midwife did almost get a good hard kick when she came in offering me a A paracetamol when I was 10 cm dilated. )

All in all the pesaary was great and shaped things up a lot. God luck!!

I had just gel once, about mid-morning. I was told to go home and come back later for another gel treatment. I went to bed for a sleep and woke up in labour. That was mid/late afternoon. It was all over in 12 hours, with just some gas and air (oh and an episiotomy). I'd had plenty of sweeps too. Good luck! Let us know how it goes when you're ready

DC #1 = 3 pessaries, ARM no further intervention
DC #2 = 1 pessary
DC #3 = 3 pessaries, ARM no further intervention
DC #4 = 2 pessaries

I was induced with DD1. I was four days overdue and thought waters had gone, kept in over night and next day dr came. He thought it was too far me to get public transport home,( 2 buses 15 miles) and would prob go into labour so offered to break waters.
Broke waters at 4pm then left to wander pains got bad and then offered epi before 9pm as shattered baby born by 2am.

If I could of remembered I would of made them give me chance to start labour without the drip for dd2 and dd3 as with them it was break waters wait half an hour and onto drip, lie flat on bed then have epi as labour was too slow.

Get them to let you move about and give your body chance to start labour before rushing in with a drip.

Good luck as well

I had one pessary went in to full blown labour dd born with in two hours! Midwife wouldn't believe I was in labour until se checked and I was 10 cms! Two pushes later dd was here. Very shocked and apologetic midwife!

Ihatepeas · 23/07/2013 23:09

Good luck tomorrow!

legallyblond · 23/07/2013 23:15

Yes! DD arrived after two pessaries. After the second pessary, mild contractions started and I literally paced the hospital doing fact walk

legallyblond · 23/07/2013 23:17

Sorry! Doing fast walking circuits of the corridors to get it going. Then had a bath and bounced on the birth ball. From first contractions to end was 8 hours, albeit Id been in 24 hours just waiting for the pessaries to work! It was calm and great. I needed gas and air only. Good luck!!!

Ps, I was 40+12 when the first pessary went in.

mameulah · 23/07/2013 23:18

I went to bed on the Sunday night (9 months +12). Was booked in to be induced at 2pm the next day. Woke up at 6am with a 'show'. Phoned the ward who told me to make my way there. My waters broke naturally. Our pfb ds was born at 0016 the next day. Only had gas, air and TENS machine.

Honestly waiting for my waters to break was the biggest struggle because I knew they wouldn't give me a labour ward until that point. The best advice I can give you is to keep gravity working in your favour by standing up.

Good luck!

Yep pessary and a lot of walking up and down. Dilating for a few hours, active labour for 43 mins. My waters went when pushing.
