Im expecting my 6 th baby. 1,2&3 were hospital births. 4&5 were Waterbirths in a birth center. I can't have this baby there as the cut off is 5 births.

The hospital I've booked into has a MLU. I wasn't really interested as i wasn't to have this, my last baby at home. I really felt last time it was a waste of petrol driving to the birth center, to do something i could easily do at home.

But now Im wondering how i will get all the dc looked after. Oldest Ds dosnt live at home. So 4 dc to consider. Hopefully i will have baby at night or during school hours but if not i don't have anyone i can call on to help out.

How do others organise older dc to have a rebirth?
All tips appreciated!

I had dc 2 and 3 at home, but they are all quite close in age. I prayed for labour to start at night and it did. Back up plans for them were my friends to have them. How old are your dc? Are they old enough to be left by themselves, or for one to be put in charge of the others? Have they got a friend each at school that you could get in touch with and ask their parents to help you out should the need arise? I nearly had to transfer so my plans for eldest two were put into place, but then luckily got to stay at home with ambulance on standby on the drive. Best to be prepared. I am so glad I had my last two children at home, I do wish I had pushed and had all three at home though. I couldn't fault my home births.

My oldest dc at home is 21, 12, 8 &5. Dc 8 has SN. Its really about getting them out of the house. I really wanted my last at home But gave up due to same problems. At least then i had a sister living fairly local but she's moved.

I think i will try & organise something as I've got time but ultimately at least i can use the MLU.

I suppose i wanted to hear from people who had given birth in both places so i could make a comparison. Thanks for your reply, it has made me realise i only need care for 2 of the dc.
