What pre labour 'symptoms' did you have?

I'm 38 weeks and have had on off period pains, twinges and icky tummy. Yesterday afternoon they were painful enough for me to have to lie down whereas today nothing! Just wondered if others have had this and how soon after you went into labour?

I was grumpy. Hideously grumpy. Even more than the preceding few weeks. So if you find yourself threatening your dh with divorce, the baby might just be imminent.

Twinges are good, but can go on for weeks. Sorry.

AlisonL1981 · 23/07/2013 17:42

Back pain

Fifi2406 · 23/07/2013 17:50

I felt like the most humongous number 2 was stuck! Confused Gross! After a couple of hours of that I was having proper contractions.

To be honest everyone is different some people have Braxton Hicks for weeks could be anything!

Choccywoccydodah · 23/07/2013 18:00

I felt like the little fella was squeezing my bladder all day (from 12 middayish) then by 7pm, it felt like cystitis like a burning pain every few mins, i had the tens on from 5ish but didn't do much. By 11pm it was really burning so we went into hospital, bubs born just over 5 hours later. I had nothing else beforehand in the run up to due day.
Good luck.Xx

PicnicPie · 23/07/2013 18:16

I had period like cramping which started a week before (38 weeks) i gave birth at 38+6. Prior to that i had nothing. Not even any Braxton Hicks. The cramping came in waves. Then I had a show at 38+2 and after that the intensity of the cramping increased and although my contractions were never regular the pain just increased so much until they became unbearable. I had to go to the hospital 3 times before I was finally admitted at 3 cm.

justanuthermanicmumsday · 23/07/2013 18:39

yes almond. all 4 pregnancies were as you described. achy like period pains but become uncomfortable. next day im always in labour. it sounds like you're close now. time contractions but they might not get closer. with my last one contractions were all over the place but the pain got so severe i just about made it to the bed the midwives dragged me there. so try not to leave it too late. u will know when its time, follow your gut instinct its right most of the time.

i hope you keep well and have a healthy baby.

LittleMissSnowShine · 23/07/2013 20:08

Glad you asked this - I'm 37+4 and when I had check up last week baby's head was engaged. When I had DS1 I don't think I really had any signs of labour, then I had sweep done at 39+6 and I had bloody show next morning, followed by long back to back labour.

This time round baby seems to not be back to back, already feels a lot lower in my pelvis and since I walked DS round to play park 3 hours ago I've been feeling really cramps. Much more like period pain than contractions but has been going on for a while now. hope I'm like you just and find myself in labour tomorrow but suspect it'll be more like what fruitsalad said and I could go on like this for weeks!! Confused

AlmondFrangipani · 23/07/2013 22:07

Thanks for all your comments. The pains have eased off today so I guess I may be in for a bit of a wait! Fx it's the next week though as being induced before my new date!!

Trippy colour and sound perception and a conviction that Let It Be Unplugged was the GREATEST ALBUM EVER MADE.

AmandaCooper · 23/07/2013 22:42

Nothing whatsoever until my waters broke.

justhayley · 23/07/2013 23:10

My face bloated a few days before my waters broke and I broke out in spots which I never ever get. The day my waters went I had back ache all day and had loads of energy in the evening. Had no idea I was going Into labour as I was only 35.4 weeks

CuppaSarah · 24/07/2013 09:37

I just had a feeling. I can't describe but, but in the week before I gave birth I would wake if I felt it I would say 'maybe today' and if I didn't I would just be really pissed off. Then one morning I woke up from a contraction.

boardingschoolbaby · 24/07/2013 09:43

I ate like a horse the night before despite having weeks of barely being able to eat due to my stomach being all squashed up, and pooped for Britain on the day, before anything discernibly labour began to happen.

FoofFighter · 24/07/2013 15:07

ooh.

I have done nothing but eat today, have got loose-ish bowels and been about 4 times so far, have increase in discharge which smells different to normal (not offensive just different) and is watery, have suddenly broke out into spots yesterday and woke up this morning with the feeling it's going to happen soon (am only 37+1 though)...

thegoldenfool · 24/07/2013 18:38

I had none at all!

Was in pizza express and the cinema, then home to watch another film and waters broke. All very unexciting!

MrsPercyPig · 24/07/2013 20:19

Oh, but my dh had a desire to nest! Does that count? Grin

Xmasbaby11 · 24/07/2013 20:30

I had a nap, and when I got up my waters broke. Contractions started an hour or two later, early evening. They got increasingly painful over 12 hours until I was finally admitted. Spent the night on the gym ball crying from the pain. And I was only about 3cm after all that!

LittleMissSnowShine · 25/07/2013 09:01

foof - haven't seen you since I dropped off the due in Aug thread, glad you're still hanging in there. 37+6 now and I'm also running to the loo a lot with dodgy skin, along with twinges aplenty...

But no baby yet!!!! Belatedly ordered a tens machine y'day so that should pretty much ensure waters break before it arrives in the post lol

FoofFighter · 25/07/2013 09:47

Hello LittleMiss :) do you want to be added to the FB group so we can all catch up? PM me if you do :)

Wiped a teeny bit of jelly this morning when I peed :D

LittleMissSnowShine · 25/07/2013 10:54

foof - I'm so rubbish at keeping up to date with threads!! Jelly sounds promising Wink My pelvis is about ready to give and i am exhausted so i would really welcome some conclusive signs that this baby is imminent. On & off cramping doesn't count!!!

AlmondFrangipani · 25/07/2013 14:59

Bit of an update this end...went for reflexology yesterday and she said my body was preparing! Might be coincidence but I've been feeling weird today...anxious, ridiculously hungry, tired, icky tummy and grumpy!! Ooo and some pelvis pressure!

OP posts:
LittleMissSnowShine · 25/07/2013 19:28

Ooh looks like plenty of icky tummys and pelvic pressure happening on this thread - who will go first??! I even steam cleaned my windows today to see if that would get things moving but (so far...) no!
