Does anybody know what the recommended dosage is for before and after birth? I have got the 30c little pills but have no idea how much to take... Also, I suppose that it is okay to take arnica if breastfeeding?

Arnica 200 - every 4 hour in labour and twice a day after the birth. You can buy that dosage of arnica with www.helios.co.uk

pupuce · 08/02/2004 11:55

yes you can take whilst breastfeeding and even better if you can take arnica before they cut the chord and you asked them to cut it when it has stopped pulsating.... giving baby the maximum from your placenta.... including some arnica (via the placenta)

Thanks. This is going to sound like a silly question but does this mean I can take 5 of my 30c tablets to make arnica 180c? I'm sick of spending more and more money on everything!

No homeopathy doens't work that way arabella! You have to buy the 200c to get the 200c iykwim.

If money is really tight you can 'plus' the 30c. Buy a new bottle of mineral water, put one pill in and hit the bottom of the bottle against the palm of you hand REALLY hard about 20 times and take one sip...do this again a few hours later. It won't make it anywhere near 200c but it will up the dose very slightly.

Sorry twiglett, didn't see your message. Well, I know what you mean but anything that makes me feel as if I am in control of the event (ha ha) makes me feel a little better.

Twigglet, the study you refer to has been criticised for not actually using an appropriate doseage, 30c is referred to as the highest dose, indeed it is referred to as a high dose, when it isn't. Indeed Prof Ernst has admitted that the trial was not implemented in accordance with the principle of homeopathy, and that 1/3 of the study subjects did not adhere to the trial regime, that they actually missed tablets.

But IMO testing homeopathy in a standard scientific study is like trying to compare apples and orange iykwim?

Totally agree twiglett, I think that what ever the medicine, alternative or mainstream, you should be able to go into it with information so that you can make your mind up

pupuce · 09/02/2004 18:57

It doesn't cost much... maybe with P&P it might £5 or £7.... it starts at £3.50!

Just looked on the site:
So if you were to order Arnica, 200, Tablets, 4g - Tablets/Pills/Soft tabs/Granules would this be correct? Also how many tablets would be in a packet, would I need to order 2x of this or would 1 do?
Really want to do this but don't want to order the wrong thing.

pie · 19/02/2004 19:17

Just looked at my bottle of pills from Helios, approx 100 of the pills (tablets are bigger so you may get less for 4g). That should be enough. If you are only taking 3 or 4 a day just before and after birth.

pupuce · 19/02/2004 19:45

Small will do.

Linnet · 01/05/2004 23:04

How many of the arnica 200 pills do you take at a time Pupuce? Is it just one every 4 hours etc or more than one at a time?

I finally managed to track down some Arnica 200 they are 7g tablets, not sure how many are in the bottle. Got it from another health food shop in town that gets it in from a homeopathic dispensary in Glasgow. Because they get it in from them there are no instructions on it which is why I'm asking here since you are all so knowledgable.

bump

Carrie (mumsnet) · 04/05/2004 16:53

Looking at pupuce's earlier posting Linnet I'd say you take one 200 every 4 hours and then twice a day. Maybe a more knowledgeable homeopath than me will give you a definitive answer though.

pupuce · 04/05/2004 19:00

One pilule or tablet at teh time.

Linnet · 04/05/2004 21:40

Thank you so much both Pupuce and Carrie. I just wanted to be sure I was taking the right amount.
