Hypnobirthing - confused!

Hi
I suspect I'm being thick, and totally blame the exhaustion of a 17 month old and being 39 weeks pregnant :)
I'm determined to have a more positive birth experience this time and bought 'effective birth preparation' book and cd. Have read book and listened to cd a lot. What I don't understand is when I'm actually in labour do I just listen to the cd? It's just within 30 mins you go from preparing for labour to the baby actually coming out. I don't think ill be this lucky! Basically I'm confused about whether I just try to use the suggested techniques or actually listen to cd. Should I try and find a relaxing cd to listen to at the time instead? I do like the idea of having a cd to focus on, any recommendations? Please help me figure this out!

You can use it however you feel will work but personally I just did some visualisation in early labour and lots of the words came to mind in the later stages but I wasn't really focusing on it by then. You can also buy a cd of just the music if you like.

I also found Juju Sundin's book birth skills really helpful.

I hope you have the labour you would like.

Thanks for the reply. Would you say the music is worth it?

Well personally I wanted to listen to something else when it came to it so no Smile. But I did develop some fond associations with a track from the pregnancy relaxation cd (not the birth one so much) and still listen to that occasionally, so I can see how it could be helpful.
