I had an episiotomy and stitches after delivering my baby. The stitches were incredibly neat and tidy (all midwives that had a look said so, I had a look and agree!) However, sadly and painfully a couple of the stitches on the inner end fell out before healing and I had a gaping hole which was very painful. I got antibiotics right away. I finished the course (five days) and had another look today and was disappointed the hole hadn't (to my inexperienced eyes) didn't look any better and still had the little bit of discharge I had when I asked for antibiotics.
My question is - could me moving about, sitting certain ways, etc, stop the hole from healing or healing quicker? As the pain subsided I returned to breastfeeding my baby in bed in the middle of the night sort of shuffling my hips up rather than getting out of bed to sit upright in a chair, that sort of thing. I sit cross-legged, pick things up like laundry baskets and prams, etc.
Are these kinds of activities causing any healing in the hole to tear open/separate again?
I am seeing my midwife for the last time tomorrow so I will ask her then as well but a bit concerned and wanted to know if anyone had any advice/experience.
Thanks so much!
