Giving birth in Bolton

Is there anybody in the Bolton area given birth recently? If so, could you tell me where and what it was like please.

I had a baby in the Maternity wing of the Royal Bolton 13 yrs ago and it was awful - left completely alone for whole of labour (only checked at 8cm dilated), little help to deliver (big thanks to brilliant dr that came to intervene at the end), dirty beyond belief (blood and stainson curtains are bed in mat ward, toilets like something from a murder scene - all covered in blood), just an awful experience that I dont want to repeat. I'd love to know if its any better now or should I consider the birthing suite (is it likely to be any cleaner?) or consider a home birth (at least I'd know it was clean)

Sorry 2 yrs ago and found the whole experience very good. Bolton hospitals is now a regional centre for maternity services and had alot of investment. Very clean and lots of staff. Only thing I would say is pack your own food. I wasn't fed at all from 1am - 6pm!

I was booked into Bolton for delivery of DS 6 months but I changed to St Mary's Manchester as I'd heard good things.

My friend delivered her DS 8 months in Bolton and said it was too busy and the midwives were stretched but quite honestly, St Mary's was horrendous, so it sounds like Bolton is the best of a bad bunch, unless you fancy the MLC at Salford Royal?

I've heard nothing but wonderful things about it and I had my first sweep there, I was the only person there!

It was so peaceful.

It's almost a year later, so Bolton might be running much more efficiently, but don't worry if its busy, your baby will arrive Grin

Congratulations.
