Nick Wales or Keith Duncan for elective caesarean section? Who is better?

Hello, can anyone please help me to decide which of the two consultants is the best one for elective c-section? Nick Wales or Keith Duncan? I had two c-sections already in C&W via NHS with bad experiences, hence need to go private this time for my 3rd. I met both of them and they seem very nice, but just need to know who is the best doing c-sections. Any advise will be really appreciated. Many thanks!

I had nick do mine and am v pleased.

I suspect you will find it hard to get a comparison. You would need someone with 2 DC who was either v unhappy with one of them or someone who gave birth at a time when the first choice wasn't available. Since ELCS are scheduled that would be rare

There is probably not much to differentiate them other than personality. They cover each other during holidays / weekends.

Many thanks for your replies! yes, it is true... difficult to compare unless you had 2 c-sections, one with each consultant, but maybe some people might have heard comments from both... as long as nobody had a 'bad' experience with one of them, then it will be fine with either, I guess... I also need to fix my old scars and now heard Nick is also a gynec apart from obstetrician so maybe has more experience? although Keith seemed to know exactly what to do when he saw my scars... such a difficult decision! I just want to have a nice experience this time and forget what happened to me in the other two! I still can't believe I'm going to face the theatre again when I said to myself 'never again' but obviously I'm in love with my 2 children so forgot everything that it happened before!

I am very sorry to hear about your loss, and know how sad you feel as I also lost a baby boy, but my experience with Mr Duncan was very different. He totally made the difference to my husband and I and helped us get through the terrible loss and stayed with us all night long. We then got pregnant again and had our scans with him and he was very reassuring to us as it was very stressful for us. Our daughter was then born 3 months early and because of his excellence and knowledge our daughter lived and would most certainly have died if we didn't have the information he gave us beforehand. I can wholeheartedly recommend him as a brilliant scanner and obstetrician.

Probably too late for you, but for anyone else reading at a later date I had a TAC (Transabdominal Cerclage) fitted by Nick Wales - the surgery is very similar to a c-section in terms of the external incision anyway. I've also had two c-sections, and Mr Wales' incision healed the neatest by far. It was rather a shame it had to be cut open six months later for my ELCS!!

I was still under Mr Wales for the later ELCS, but as I was NHS I got one of his registrars that day. He was fine, but the scar was not as "nice".
