Granny pants and CS question

How long did everyone need to use the granny pants for comfort with the healing CS scar?

I'm wondering how many I need to buy and if it's only for 2 weeks then not many, but if it's for 3 months then maybe a few more!

About 3 months. Even though the scar had healed, the top of the ordinary knickers would sit right on top of the scar and was uncomfortable. Plus granny pants also good for holding in place maternity pads and night pads.

Like previous poster I could fit into my pre pregnancy jeans very quickly but I wanted v baggy pants for a lot longer than that because the scar was ry tender. In fact he m&s granny pants I bought were ghastly in my case , too hard somehow. I bought disposable net knickers from NCT website and they were wonderful - and helped healing too because of air etc

Thanks all - really useful to know it takes a while before returning to low rise underwear, and that the granny pants might not be the only/best option necessarily!

Off I go to hunt down some more (online) to keep me going for 3 months!

I'm still in granny pants after 8 weeks as all my normal ones sit right on the scar. (Also I secretly love granny pants now. I have 8 pairs, two four packs from Asda.)

I bought the Asda four packs too. DS is 21 months now and I still love them. They're so comfortable. I try not to wear them all the time.

The top layer of skin is the last to heal so anything with a seam there will rub and irritate until you're a few months post partum I'd imagine. I wore them for as long as possible...

A couple of weeks for me....

Ha monkey, my husband asked me if this was the inevitable decline into old ladydom. They are super comfy though. I note M&S do some styles that have higher tops but aren't quite so huge overall. I'll probably have to shift into those eventually.

I only needed mine for a couple of weeks.

Oh crikey! Looks like it might need to be a wait and see game! I'm a week today so will review it again in another week and if no change might venture out for another pack!

i used them for ages...but its more jeans and trousers that cut in to you if you start wearing them too soon after...

Planning on buying granny pants but do you buy your pre-pg size or one bigger? I'm expecting twins.

I bought a size bigger. I'm 10 weeks post op now and can fit into normal jeans again but I still don't like normal knickers near my scar.

My dts are 3 and I'm still wearing them
just can't stand feeling anything touching or rubbing my tummy.
Tbh I don't feel like I'll ever be able to wear anything nicer i have to have them for comfort

Cornwall73 I bought one multipack size 10 from M&S for a fiver - which is my normal size, and one multipack from primark for almost half that price but instead of choosing 10-12 I went for the next size up 12-14.

I found the large size needs hitching up and doesn't hold the maternity pad close so I wish I'd stuck to my normal size.

I'm 9 weeks post-cs and still wearing them - I can't imagine being able to wear normal pants again but fingers crossed!

I had 2 sizes up for the first couple of weeks (altho I swelled up like a balloon as I needed some unexpected extra surgery, which shouldn't happen to you) and am now in one size up from normal.

Thank you! I've got 10 granny pants size 10 from two yrs ago when I had a fibroid op. Ended up with keyhole surgery so didn't need them very much at all. I think I'll get an additional size 12 pack and that should be me sorted in the pant dept - hoping all the extra weight are the babies/placentas/fluid and not extra fat!
