So this is just a whingey, moany thread while I sit here as my husband watches re-runs of This Old House, and my mum has taken 19-month-old son out for a walk.

I'm just about to be 39 weeks pregnant, and am having a shocker. Feels like I've been brewing labour for a couple of weeks - relentless contractions upon most exertion and pelvic girdle pain. My son has been climbing the walls, while all I can do is sit on the floor and read books with him or play Duplo.

Been having so many 'signs' that labour is imminent (pieces of plug everyday, frequent BMs after months of constipation, numerous (NUMEROUS!!) BHs/contractions..... Sigh... Just properly fed up with being pregnant and not being a proper mum to my lovely little man.

Anywho, anyone else in a similar negative frame of mind feel free to offload! Or just tell me to shut up and get on with it (that's what I keep telling myself!).

Yes, unfortunately it is my first so statistically likey to be late. Combined with his father's lateness I am not hopeful!

slugsonmypeasgrr · 09/06/2013 17:18

Ok, I might be in labour... Hard to tell with so many false alarms. Getting a little big excited - fingers crossed for me please!

slugsonmypeasgrr · 09/06/2013 17:34

Bah, jinxed myself

slugsonmypeasgrr · 09/06/2013 17:40

Or maybe not... Love how I'm having this thread with myself!

quertas · 09/06/2013 19:49

How's it going slugs?

slugsonmypeasgrr · 09/06/2013 19:53

Strong contractions but not so regular, have to keep moving to keep them coming, also they are very strong in my back... Do you think baby could be back to back?

quertas · 09/06/2013 20:08

Could be, but I had back contractions with 1st dc and she was back to front if you know what I mean, so try not to worry. It's sounding a lot like its happening though! How are you doing? Are you feeling ok! OMG I'm so excited for you !!!

OdaBear · 09/06/2013 21:27

Oh no! Slugs so sorry! I was intending on responding to your comment earlier, then got distracted by another post where a lady basically went into labour and gave birth earlier on!! How are you doing? More contractions? I'm basically envious of anyone who is having convincing, proper contractions. No sign of my bubba today...

OdaBear · 09/06/2013 21:30

Mawgatron - not necessarily. Have you had a sweep yet? (Did you already say? Baby brain!). I was bang on time with my first as my sweep was very effective (I went straight into labour).

OdaBear · 09/06/2013 21:34

By the way Slugs, my first was back to back, but he turned during labour and was born the correct way. Apparently 87% of posterior babies turn to anterior during labour, but try and avoid reclining where you can. Having said that, I ended up having to push while I was in an uprightish/slightly reclined position, and he still turned correctly. Right, I'll shut up now - three posts in a row is a bit excessive!!

Still strong, still about 8 mins apart but some really close together... Am basically waiting for that 'ok I need a professional in the room NOW feeling before calling midwife as I just gave a strong feeling this baby will not slip out easily. Sorry for not posting earlier but have been trying to do hypno relaxation and have gas to flee upstairs as DH decided to make some ice cream, a smoothie and some pancakes in our open plan kitchen/lounge while I was trying to 'get in the zone' FFS!! I get this is quite boring for him at the moment but please!

OdaBear · 09/06/2013 21:55

Lol - men have a knack for being irritating one second, but so lovely the next. Sounds really positive though slugs! Will keep everything crossed for you.

Hope you're doing ok slugs... I'm wide awake as have had a huge bloody show at 0400. Unfortunately I took paracetamol just before this happened, so now I can barely feel any contractions. My husband doesn't think anything is happening.

Baby boy born 11.37 pm last night in pool - amazing amazing!! Hope you are on your way!!!

slugsonmypeasgrr · 10/06/2013 06:27

And DH was amazing too... We totally did it together as he had to press hard on my lower back all the way through every contraction even when pushing!!

OdaBear · 10/06/2013 07:23

Lovely, lovely news!! Huge congratulations to you! Hope you're recovering well and having lots of cuddles with new boy. Will keep you posted on anything of interest going on at this end! Xx

Congratulations!

slugsonmypeasgrr · 10/06/2013 08:05

Good luck Odabear! I am living proof they do always come in the end even when you think you'll be pregnant forever! And cupcake too x

OdaBear · 10/06/2013 08:26

Thank you! Am busy bouncing on my ball after having some Cornflakes (still ravenous). Although absolutely nothing happening at the moment! Come on baby..!

quertas · 10/06/2013 08:46

Brilliant news Slugs! Congratulations!!!!!! So envious, I'm still 38 weeks and already getting desperate to meet my little man. Well done!

quertas · 10/06/2013 08:47

Hang in there Odabear sounds really positive!

OdaBear · 10/06/2013 09:43

Still nothing... Just very mild, easy contractions and lots of downward pressure. Getting very impatient, so am busying myself with light tidying (again). Hmph.

slugsonmypeasgrr · 10/06/2013 17:48

How's it going Odabear? Hope it is all leading somewhere for you x

OdaBear · 10/06/2013 22:35

Hi slugs - I am still pregnant. Nothing is happening. Very frustrated...

OP posts:
slugsonmypeasgrr · 11/06/2013 00:30

Oh so sorry!! Baby will be here soon though, losing plug is a good sign and you have your sweep this week too? I don't think you'll be waiting as long as I was. If it helps at all, having 2 is the most amazing feeling, even better than 1... Just feel surrounded by our little family!!
