Has anyone gotten to 40+1 without loosing their plug or having any signs that labour is coming? Im sick of this, im a serial pant checker desperate for them to be messed up...sorry....mw said some women go into labour with no signs, but yesterday she was only 3/5 palpable and the time before she was 2/5 waaahh waaahh wahhhhhhhhhh, she's goin the wrong bloody way! Please someone give me some hope! This is my 1st and last.

I have had two babies. One engaged at 31 weeks and stayed there, one never engaged.

Labour started spontaneously both times with no warning. Seriously, I was eating dinner first time round and asleep second time round and my waters went. No show, no Braxton hicks, no mood changes, nothing, nada, nowt.

A normal pregnancy lasts 37-42 weeks. You are NOT overdue and your baby will come when ready. Don't send yourself mad looking for signs. Do whatever makes you happy, be it wallowing in a bath or eating cake. You can't influence the start of labour, none of the old wives tales work, I promise. All you can do is try and be as happy and comfy as you can and wait for your beautiful girl to be ready to arrive.

Mine didn't engage until about 1 hour after my water broke (I actually felt him drop, and the water stopped gushing!). So don't worry about the 3/5th thing.

That's made me feel a little better, I just thought with your first they're supposed to engage earlier than if it's your second? Knew she'd moved up again because I'm finding it hard to breathe again :-(

My first did exactly that. I was a week over. It feels forever now but I promise soon it won't.

My boy didn't even engage at all till I was almost pushing. They wouldn't let me in the pool at first as they said he was too high (but shift changed and they did)

I wanted a pool birth but I aren't even sure my hospital has one, midwife tried to get me to write a birth plan last time but I just said there's no point, as long as my dp is with me, what will be will be.
