Elective C section in Leeds

Hi,

I am 31 weeks pregnant and have been diagnosed with obstetric cholestasis. The consultant wanted to induce in the 38the week. For some personal reasons , i wanted to have an elective C section. I told this to the consultant whom i met in LGI and his only response was that it is not possible as it is not a medical emergency and he did not give me any option to explain why i needed a c section also.

Have any one had elective c section in Leeds - LGI or St James please? Are there any private hospitals that would do elective C section in yorkshire...A quick search on google shows only the private hospitals near London offers elective c section.

I believe that NICE have changed the guidelines. Try googling that.

I had a ELCS at St. James, Leeds 3 weeks ago.

I had failure to progress with DS in 2008 which resulted in an emergency section. At the time my consultant advised that if I had another child I would have no choice but to have another section.

When I visited the consultant (at the 1st appointment) for 2nd pregnancy I was told that it would be a vbac. I saw different consultants at the following appointments who said could have the choice of vbac or elcs, although they did try to point me down the vbac route.

Could you see a different consultant at LGI to discuss you feelings? Your midwife might be able to give you info on private hospitals.

Thanks Mikkii and Rico08. I am trying to get a different consultant as the one i met last time was very harsh and did not give me an option to discuss my feelings also

Hope you get to speak to another consultant so you can discuss your feeling and choice of childbirth.

Which cons did you see at LGI?

Not yet Rico08...have got an appointment next monday. Hope they will listen to me
