How long between childbirth and your first period?

Dd neatly 8 weeks, bleeding stopped at two weeks and she is ff.

Really thought it would have started by now, have been cramping and grumpy for the last week which I thought was a sure sign it was coming but still nothing.

Very paranoid we may have had a unnoticed split condom! Took a test two days ago to reassure myself (bfn) but its still freaking me out a bit.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

3 weeks after my last breastfeed. 10 months.

bonzo77 · 30/05/2013 09:38

After 10 weeks after DS1 I went on the pill again having had no period. Same with ds2 after about 5 weeks.

cleoowen · 30/05/2013 09:41

Asked this question on health page but no answer. I stopped bf 10 Weeks ago and no period. From replies sounds like, maybe I shoes visit the doctors.

gaggiagirl · 30/05/2013 09:42

About 7 months probably because I bfd, just enjoy it while it lasts.

GroupieGirl · 30/05/2013 10:05

About eight or nine months, but I was breastfeeding, and they were quite irregular for the first few months.

MrsHuxtable · 30/05/2013 11:15

365 days (not a year as it was a leap year!)

PeterParkerSays · 30/05/2013 14:16

breastfeeding for 12 months, came back at 15 months.

HappyJoyful · 30/05/2013 14:16

Are you breast feeding ?
I didn't get mine until I stopped around 9/10 months and then it wasn't immediately.

PeterParkerSays · 30/05/2013 14:17

cleo, it took me 3 months (so roughly 15 weeks so I wouldn't worry yet)

Spellcheck · 30/05/2013 14:25

11 weeks! He's now 16 weeks and I'm bloody late. POS returned a BFN (thank goodness) but am panicking as I was Mrs Regular 27-day-cycle after my other 3. Obsessive Googling has revealed that cycles can be messed up for a while afterwards, but this is unusual for me.

I'd be more calm if we hadn't been stupid and assumed I was back to normal...

Hope yours comes soon!

Spellcheck · 30/05/2013 14:27

No longer BF by the way, not since 7 weeks.

thegoldenfool · 31/05/2013 07:49

i was breast feeding until 7 months but got my periods back after only 3 months - it was a bit of a shock!

themilkmonster · 31/05/2013 07:58

I had a very light period at about 6 weeks but in hindsight think this may have been the tail end of post birth bleeding. Had my first proper period after 13 weeks. DD is ff.

HappyAsASandboy · 31/05/2013 07:59

18 months for me, while still Breastfeeding twins.

8 weeks is still early days, whether breastfeeding or formula feeding :)

redwellybluewelly · 01/06/2013 15:21

16months to the day and my cycles returned to the exact same as they were before. So much so my DC2 is due 2yrs and 10months after DC1

scaevola · 01/06/2013 15:43

6 weeks even though breastfeeding [disappointed emoticon]

NomDeClavier · 01/06/2013 15:45

18months or so, had 2 random ones, got upuffed again!

SignoraStronza · 01/06/2013 16:10

Still bf, but less at night and replacing some with formula - 10 months.
