What happens if I don't go to birth choices clinic?

Saw the consultant today. He said he understands my reasons for wanting a c section this time and not a vbac and thinks its the right choice but I will still have to attend a birthing choices clinic and then come to see him again at 34 weeks to discuss.

Infuriated by the blatant box ticking exercise. In order to get to these appointments I have to take a day of work and get someone else to do so to drive me there as I can't.

What will happen if I just don't go to the birthing choices clinic? Anyone know?

I had a battle about this ! Was promised a repeat section then an ante natal co ordinater got involved and said I must attend a vbac clinic and tried to over rule doctor. It was all v stressful. She also said even if attended vbac clinic, remained sure I wanted a CS they could force me to have a vbac as it was not my decision it was a clinical one !!

Anyway, my advice would be fight. Know your stats as to why you want one. Change docs, involve PALS if necessary. Ultimately my consultant had power to book my section "ticking the box" sure yours does too. Good luck.

Write to him and ask him to send you the birth choices clinic information in the post and you will read it and you will read it in case of the unlikely event there is anything information contained in it that you haven't considered when making your maternal request for a c/section.

Ask him to confirm that he does indeed understand your reasons for wanting a c/section, that he agrees with your choice and if he could respond confirming that he will either 'allow' you one or refer you to someone who will.
