Post partum heamorrhage and dvt

Hi, with my second child I experienced a heamorrhage and deep vein thrombosis, not planning another child at the moment but I was wondering are the risks of it happening again increased If I have another?

I had a pph and blood transfusion too. DS is 5 months and 2 weeks ago I had a de-brief with my consultant.

He said that next time, there would be an increased risk of having another pph, but they would do all they can to minimise the risk.

However, they would also be prepared just incase it happened again - I would be admitted to the labour ward (I delivered DS on the MLU), my notes would clearly state that I would be at risk of another PPH so everyone knows, a cannula would be put in my hand before giving birth (my veins collapsed after the birth so had to have one in my neck), they would get blood ready incase I need a transfusion etc.

You can ask for a de-brief with a consultant to answer this and any other questions you may have. I found it very useful even though they couldn't give me a reason for my pph - it was just one of those things!

I had a PPH with DC1, turned out she tore my cervix on the way out. Went on to have natural deliveries with DC2, Dc3 and DC4 with no PPH issues. Although like PP they insisted I had a cannula in my hand, all the staff knew to watch for it and I wasn't allowed in a birthing pool/bath.
