which came as a shock.
I was all geared up to say "no thank-you" to contraception at 6 week post-natal check. Experiences and good sources of info very welcome.

I've had 3 ELCSs so not quite the same as EMCS but started TTC 9 months after the first one,pg 2nd cycle..When I saw the consultant to book my 2nd ELCS he asked if I had plans for any further pregnancies and advised me to start actively trying at 6 months after delivery. As far as he was concerned my age(then 37) presented a potentially bigger problem than the fact I would have had a recent 2 nd section.Didn't bother with contraception after 2nd ELCS either but only actively started TTC once finished BF.Got pg quickly 15 months after 2nd ELCS.

I'm 38, to us the bigger problem is dh being over 50 and wanting the children to be independent, or at least materially provided for, in his retirement planning. We have two preteen dds who are very close, and newborn ds. We'd love him to have that close, sibling-playmate too but are debating how realistic it would be. He's breast fed, too so I wouldn't expect to be instantly fertile, either.

I was 32 and had a straightforward EMCS. My GP said it was best to wait 6 months before getting pregnant again. Eventually I had a 22 month gap between the EMCS and ELCS. No problems recovering from the planned cs.

In your situation I wouldn't bother with contraception, rely on the bf to postpone things a bit and just take a chance.Good luck with TTC no 4!
