Well due date was yesterday and I have been having mild contractions for 2 1/2 hours now between 4 & 5 minutes apart. Which was exactly how my first labour started, DP is asleep and I need to relax a bit as have run out of things to polish in the house, does anyone know if having a bath will slow down the contractions, I cant remember!??? But dont want that to happen.

not sure inky! i know when i got in the bath in labour with ds1 the contrax went from every 20 mins to every 2 mins! might be worth a try!!! oh how exciting!!!

Speeded them up for me.

Just make sure DP will hear you wake up if you shout. No way could I have got back out of the bath by myself without help.

Good luck Smile

Is it going to be a homebirth?

If not, how long is your journey to hospital?

4-5 minutes contractions can speed up pretty rapidly, especially with it not being your first.

On the other hand, I had 4-5 minute contractions for a whole night, then nothing more until an ARM induction 8 days later.

Hmmm, maybe that second bit isn't what you want to hear.....

Hospital is luckily 5 mins down the road, need 2 get Nana over to sit with DS who is 15 mins away. I'm kind of spaced as I was the first time, they are definately regular (still 4/5 minutes) a bit uncomfortable but not painfull which makes me think I might be a way off.

However, midwife has said baby has been fully engaged for the last 10 days now and "you could go with a bang" (gulp), does the pain increase quicker with the 2nd child do you think?

Well my 2nd delivery was quicker but I was warned that it might come hard and fast once my waters were broken. It was more painful than my first but strangely more bearable because it felt much more productive IYSWIM. I went from 3cm to delivery in 3hrs.

Ok thanks, will bear in mind this could be quicker as stayed at home quite late last time and was 5cm when I went in. Dont fancy giving birth in a council carpark!
