I have to have a c section as have surgery that means I can't give birth vaginally?

Will it be scheduled for 38 weeks or will they leave it later.

Is dc3, dc1 was early and dc2 was late. Not sure this makes any difference or not!

I had an elective for my dc2 and it was done at 39 weeks. Infact 39 weeks fell on a Saturday, so they waited til the monday (39+2). There were no complications, so I think they left it as late as possible.

They like to do it as close to 39 weeks as possible, as this is best for the baby wrt breathing difficulties.

Flisspaps · 19/03/2013 19:39

Probably nearer 39 weeks, but if you go into labour before that and phone the hospital, they'll get you in for EMCS.

I had one at 38+2 but I'm on medication that isn't compatible with pregnancy

Bloody hell, XH bday due date so don't want to be left till then.

Sounds silly but I don't want it born on his birthday.

So fingers crossed they won't leave it till term from what you ve said?

They don't usually do it on due date, closer to 39 week mark.

38 weeks for me.
For DD I had it put forward a week to get her into a different school year. In my experience they are willing to go later but never earlier without a proper reason.

39 weeks is standard at my hospital. I asked for 40 as my first two were 2wks late. No problem.

You can also ask for a particular day, within reason (eg 39+4) if that avoids ex-h bday - tho elcs are not done at weekends in my area. Worst they can say is no.

I'm booked in for a c-section in a few weeks. I'll be 39+1. I was offered two dates to choose from, so hopefully you'll get to meet your baby at a date thats better for you. :)

Also think they'll try to make it as close as possible to 39 weeks. i was 39 +6. They want to leave it as late as possible, bt if there's a reason they don't want you to go into labour (I was breech) they''l do it a little bit earlier than 40.
