Hi there - I should have updated this ages ago to update you as to my DD's birth but you know what it's like with a newborn :)
Basically, I did get my homebirth and it was fantastic although not at all what we prepared for. It was extremely quick and went as follows:
(Good) Friday 29th March 1:30am I woke with contractions 10-15 mins apart.
2:50am I woke DH. Contractions started to get closer and longer but I didn't realise really how quickly even though I started monitoring them on an app from about 3:40am (when I couldn't breathe through them any more and went onto all fours on my bed).
I called the delivery suite for the HB MW to be sent to me at 4:10 but I must have been fully dilated pretty soon after that as at 4:30 I had to go into the bathroom and started pushing! DH called 999 at 4:35 and just had time to give the man our basic information when he asked DH if he could see any part of the baby and he said 'the head'.
This was (obviously) brilliant as I had checked myself five mins earlier and felt the head but in my panic (it was the only time I did panic) I didn't think it felt like a baby's head and actually thought I was having a cervical prolapse, if such a thing exists 
because I'd had no one to tell me how far dilated I was etc. So before DH said he could see the head I member screaming at him to tell the 999 man that I wasn't dilated enough but was pushing - as soon as I knew I'd already pushed the head out I relaxed a lot. The 999 operator told DH to tell me not to hinder the birth and to just push the body out which I did without waiting for another contraction. DH was supporting the head, she came out easily with the cord wrapped round once. Instincts kicked in and I unwrapped the cord, grabbed a towel and started rubbing her as she didn't cry straight away but then she did a couple of cries and I put her to me and laid back on the bathroom floor until the paramedic arrived (I got no skin to skin with my DS so this was lovely!).
DD was born at 4:40, after I pushed about 4-5 times, the paramedic came at 5:05 (so took half hour 
), ambulance that wasn't needed at 5:15, MW finally arrived at 5:20. I live fairly rurally but she got lost even though my CMW gave instructions on where I live (it's really straightforward) because she relied on her sat nav which took her completely the wrong way. But all was fine.
It was a wonderful experience and apart from the five min panic between me feeling the head and DH telling me he could see the head, having DH deliver her was lovely. He says it helped that he grew up on a farm and has done lambing many times 
I should also say that the IMG book helped me a lot, especially part 2 where she talks about how amazing our bodies are and totally designed to give birth. It made me so much more confident in my own abilities, as well as the fact that I'd done it before. I am a complete HB convert, as is DH I think as DD would have been born by the side of the road if we had tried to get to hospital. I've also recommended the book to other expectant mums as well but will hang onto 'my' copy for the time being because I want to reread it now and I may be able to persuade DH to have a DC3...
