Mucus plug/show

Hi, hope someone can help as I'm not sure whether to be worried or excited!

I'm 39w + 1 with DC2. Basically, just went to the loo and when I wiped there was a wee bit of pinkish/red blood. Is this the show or something else?

With DC1 I was induced and I remember the mucus plug being like a giant snot with blood in it! Because it's nothing like that this time round, I'm a bit worried. I have been having an increased amount of discharge over the last few days though.

Please someone reassure me!

Oh, I had that both times. In my case it was just little bits of mucus coming away - the body gearing up as it were. but if you are worried obviously talk to your midwife.

Hopefully not long now!

Thanks, I think I'll give the midwife a call anyway if only to put my mind at rest! It hasn't been the easiest pregnancy so I'd just drive myself mad with worry.

I would say it was a show! Mine came away in bits and pieces, a bit would appear, then 3 days later a bit more.

Good luck :)

I'd say show - mine was much more like (light) bleeding for several hours than the snotty lump I was expecting. First noticed at 1.30am, was in labour by the following evening. Good luck!

Thanks for the responses. I spoke to the midwife who agreed that it was probably a show.

However, nothing else happened and still waiting for contractions to start!

Ah well - I think I had a few of these 'light shows' in the 2 or 3 weeks before the birth.

I had a show today (I think) like a big blob of snot (tmi, sorry) with a bit of blood in. Am 39+4 so hopefully it's the start of things..........
