i gave birth 9 days ago and yesterday i got a really bad pain on the inside of my vagina..its was stingy and sometimes like a shooting pain. i saw a doctor today and he had a very quick poke around and swabbed for infection but didn't seem to find anything... i am in agony again tonight so decided to have a feel and on the left side where the pain is i can feel a hole/pocket that i can get my finger into. its really painful...i didn't cry giving birth but this has made me weep with pain.
walking makes it worse or sitting in the wrong position.

what could it be?

Sounds like a tear, I'm sorry not to be much use but bumping for you! You can go straight back to the post natal ward for a few weeks after delivery I believe, it really sounds like you need stitches at the least.

Its not a hole like that though its more of a pocket ifswim i can put my finger in it (not that iv been having too much of a poke)

Was the doctor you saw a gyno / obstetric specialist? Sounds like you definitely need a second opinion. Don't let them fob you off. It sounds very sore and I know from experience that any problems in the vagina area are so scary. Good luck, I hope you get some relief soon.

Rest is doing me the world of good the pain has really eased. It feels like its healing aswel :) Its also nice to be waited on by my dh.
DS and i have chilled on the sofa for 2 days with him running around getting everything we need.
I actually don't know what kind of doctor it was as he just came in fiddled around and left. they just said they would contact me if they needed ie if i had an infection.
If it hadn't started to feel better i was going to see my midwife tomorrow for her to have a look but i don't think ill need it now.
