Hello all :D I am 38+4 and due booked for a c-section on Monday. I have a clarking appointment on Friday but haven't actually been told what it is for? I have asked my midwife who seems to think its none of my business lol. I was going to take my maternity notes but other than that I know nothing, can anyone help? Thanks!

They'll do bloods and urine. BP. Check your medical history. Weigh you. Maybe monitor baby. Swab you for MRSA. give you a pre med to take before the op (ranitidine to reduce vomiting), tell you when you need to have your last food before the op. give you paperwork to sign. Tell you what to do on the day.

Your clarking or clerking appointment is where they do all the Pre op stuff.

They take blood, give you your DVt stockings, swabs for mrsa. Talk to you about the op. give you your meds to take before.

Second section anaesthetist came to speak to me about the op.

Actually the nurse looked like she couldn't be bothered.

Good luck with the op.

They'll also check the lie of baby - I'm a GP now but when I worked in Obs I used to do the pre-ops before caesarians, and occasionally I'd feel the lady's abdomen and discover that baby who was meant to be breech was in fact now head down! Have to check these things! Other than that, all the info given above. Consent you for the procedure etc.
