Eeeek my waters have broken!

Hi all :-) I'm 39+3 weeks preggers and at 4:00pm yesterday my waters spontaneously ruptured after experiencing very strong braxton hicks all day.

The midwives called me into hospital just to be checked over and confirm my waters had indeed 'gone' (which they have!) and let me go again as I was only 1-2cms and wasn't contracting regularly.
Anyhow, nothing has happened yet still, even the BH has stopped and they want me to call back at 4:00pm today for possible induction.
I was just wondering what other women have experienced with their waters breaking and how it went if they had to be induced?
I'm really hoping it'll happen naturally..!

Mine went at 37+2, tried for two days to get labour going at home, then went for induction and was all over in 6 hours. Contacted strongly as soon as went on the drip. Managed with gas and air, but couldn't be very active as had monitor on, delivered on my back, which may have contributed to 3rd degree tear (which ironically I had a spinal for to have the repair done!). All was well though, care was excellent.

Oh bless you Bee well I've been really hoping for a natural water birth and that's what I'm worried about with being induced as it won't seem likely ill get to have one.
I know what irony feels like.. I was in labour with DD1 for almost 5 days, managed with G&A throughout then I had a retained placenta and had to have a spinal anyway!

Coco if you're worried about being induced, there must be threads on here about how to deal with them? The only thing I've heard at ante natal classes (both for DS and recently - I'm 35+4 at the moment with DC2) is that you should have an epidural beforehand as they can get really painful - but Beehatch above seems to have managed okay without!

My waters went at 4pm went to the hospital and hung around til i practically begged to go home at 10, i thought i was in for the long haul. I had to go back hospital at 1am i was in agony and most definatly in labour :-D i had a baby 10 hrs later. Good luck!

Hello all.. Sorry it's taken a while for my reply! I've been a little busy with my new cub!
Well after my waters broke spontaneously last Tuesday I was induced Thursday at 2.00pm after almost 48 hours of waiting to see if labour starts naturally. My little girl was born at 8.44pm the same day. I had my water birth and absolutely no pain relief - exactly how I had planned!
She's amazing and I'm totally in love with her :-)
