Anyone else turned into a labour hypochondriac?

I'm 40+6 with DC number 2. Had just about every symptom of early labour in the past three weeks - increasingly regular and painful BH, the lovely plug, multiple shows, bad poo episodes (sorry TMI), nesting etc - but no baby!

I've had six separate episodes of contractions which are relatively strong and regular, but just as I'm about to phone the hospital they peter out. DH has even stayed home from work twice becuase I've been that convinced that this is it. It wasn't. And my family have been on red alert for weeks. I even managed to fool the midwife at 38 weeks who said she was certain I wouldn't make my next appointment. Wrong.

On the plus side, all these contractions must be doing something as I'm 3-4cm dilated at this point and fully effaced etc - but beginning to feel a little like the boy who cried wolf, or the woman who cried contraction! When it does start in earnest I doubt anyone will believe me. I certainly wouldn't.

Anyone else in the same boat?

Am only 38.1 with not a lot going on but am already over analysing my knickers and questioning every twinge so can't imagine how frustrating this time must be for you!

Really hope things get moving soon for you and hope your resting while you can, altho I suspect your sick of hearing that at the minute! Wink

I'm starting to and I'm only 35+3!!! God knows what I'll be like in 5 weeks time! I was utterly convinced yesterday that I was leaking waters. Pretty sure now that I just got a bit (TMI) sweaty Blush

Also keep thinking I'm getting BH but not really sure. I'm pretty well covered (fat) so it's not always easy to tell if my tummy gets hard? Must stop obsessing before I go quite mad.

I'm just desperate not to be induced this time as my first labour was a nightmare. A real lesson in how induction leads to more pain, more drugs, more intervention and then surgery. Plus, first time round I didn't have even a niggle until I was induced at 42 weeks so I don't really know what I'm looking for either.

Is this your first baby or have you others Snickers? I wish I could rest but have a 2.5 year old who is very active and demanding. And her nursery is up a big hill. I think if I do go into labour naturally it'll definitely be half way up that hill haha.

Hope your baby comes soon anyway - bang on the due date would be excellent!

Pontouf, I've definitely been there with mistaking sweat for waters - once even sat in wet juice patch on couch (courtesy of DD1) and decided they'd gone. Only reason I didn't phone the midwife was because they smelled suspiciously of Fruit Shoot.

I have a ds 2.6 but not at nursery so no big hills for me to climb (I'm too tired for that anyway!) but hey all that walking must be doing something for you if your getting there albeit very slowly!

I was induced at 39ws with him due to gd so I don't really know what I'm looking for either! They're not inducing me until 39/40w this time as baby is a 'normal' size and I won't find out until Friday when I have a consultant appt.

I was hoping being dc2 it might happen naturally this time and was hoping or praying for an earlier arrival as induction sucks, 6 pessaries, 5 days and an episiotomy later, i do not want a repeat Hmm

I'm driving myself crazy second-guessing every symptom. I'm 40+3 with DC1 by the 12wk scan measurements but am pretty sure that I'm actually 39+3 by my dates. Up until now I've been ok with the week's discrepancy but all of a sudden, the midwives are talking induction at 41+3 and I'm terrified, having read all the horror stories on here. I'm sure I'm making it worse by worrying that every twinge or discharge (sorry) or nesting urge is a sure sign - they don't seem to be. Given that I've never done it before, I have no idea what to expect.

Even though it's very unlike me, I've started all the pineapple, sex, curry etc in an attempt to get things moving. But now I'm thinking that the stress of it all might actually slow stuff down.
