Clear mucus - is this a show?

I'm 36+3 and twice yesterday when I went to the loo I noticed when I wiped (sorry if TMI!) things seemed softer (cervix- I think) and there was a very noticeable thick egg whitey mucus on the paper. No blood or pink stains.
Is this a 'show'. I've read that it can happen weeks before delivery especially in first babies.

I don't think it does sound like a show tbh. I think lots of white discharge is pretty common towards the end of PG.

It is not considered to be a 'show' if no blood or staining but may well be the start of your plug - look out for more. It could also be, as ItalianJob said, just discharge. If you do have a 'show' labour could start anytime from then until up to 2 weeks later so you may have a wee while yet. All the best. Smile

Thanks ItalianJob and Schneebly, that's reassurring.
It was a shock as I've had absolutely nothing like it since before I fell pregnant and was looking out for ovulation signs.

We've still got far too much to do so I'm not ready for it to be a show just yet...

I had this at the end of my pregnancy and it was like the egg white you get when you ovulate and i have never known what it is.

I had that all day with DS and that night my waters broke apparantly according to MW it is your cervic softning.

i was about 37weeks with ds2 and i experienced the same thing, was sure if it was a show or not, but it ended up not being a show, i had a show 2 days b4 ds2 was born!(same sort of jelly stuff but has a tinge of brown/red to it)

mummy23 · 02/05/2006 17:43

and forgot to say ds2 ws born at 40+1 (only just the +1 though, he was born at 1am)Grin

Well its good to know that it softens it and that it is normal.
