sorry, not sure if this is the right place but, my dd is now 8 weeks old and i stopped bleeding when she was about 5 and a half - 6 weeks old, but recently have been spotting brownish blood, is this still the end of the bleed or the next 'normal' period beginning??? and roughly how long doies it take for the next 'normal' period to start?

As far as I know it can be pretty much any time. If you're breast feeding it can be delayed, but not always. Sorry can't be more help

yes i am breastfeeding. its just my tummy has been feeling a bit 'odd', dullish cramps, wasnt sure if it could still be after pains or period pain, im pretty much back to 'normal' size now??

I know one of our postnatal thread(Feb 06 if you want to join us) has had a period even with breast feeding, so it's not abnormal. Mine took 6 months to come back after my first two.

hotmama · 30/04/2006 17:51

JellyNump - I'm also on the Feb 06 thread. I've started to feel a bit crampy and I'm exclusively bf. With dd1 my period started a month after I stopped bf.

As Jasnem says one of the Feb girls has had an AF and is bf - so it can happen - I'm hoping later rather than sooner.

hi Jelly i am on feb 06 thread too and i have started a full blown period when baby 10 weeks - only 4 weeks after stopping bleeding...i dont know if its normal - it has not happened to me before...ds is fully breastfed....

Interested in what others may say as this is new to me too Wink

Jasnem · 30/04/2006 18:02

NotanOtter...we're all citing you as an example of normalityGrin

porolli · 30/04/2006 18:19

I'm bf and had period when ds2 was 8 weeks (he's now 13 weeks and nothing again so far...). this also happened with dd, but not with ds1, when they came back at 7 months after introducing solids. all 3 bf exclusively
I read something rather depressing which said that if the mother had more 'fat stores', return of periods despite full breastfeeding was more common (!) I'm certainly heavier 2nd and 3rd times round than 1st but not dramatically so don't know whether it's just extra blubber in my case. hope not!

NotAnOtter · 30/04/2006 19:01

Yes Jas Grin
porolli - i am thinner than with the others??? i am 5 foot 8 and 10 stone 3 which is not that bad is it?
Also feeding much more than 1 and 2 ?

I am hoping like you that i may not get another one for a while!

JellyNump · 30/04/2006 23:09

With my first, I was breastfeeding and bled or 4 weeks after the birth and then had a period 2 weeks after i stopped bleeding. This time i'm breastfeeding but it just feels really odd, i'm starting to feel a bit bloated and crampy, but i don't get period pain until its actually started, the only times i got cramps before it started was when i was pregnant Shock and i really don't think its that.......i hope!?!?!?!
