Natural onset first time, induction second time round?

I went into labour with DC1 on my due date, had a slow but very straightforward birth a couple of days later. This time round I'm at 40+5 with no signs of anything happening (have had little niggles on and off over the last few weeks but nothing has developed from them).

I'm having a sweep later today which will hopefully help to start things, but I was wanting to hear experiences from anyone who had a natural onset with their first labour but had to be induced second time round - I'm trying to get a feel for how common this situation is.

VERY COMMON Wink
I've been induced 3 out of 4 pregnancies. (1st induced 2 weeks early, 2nd naturally went into labour 2 days early, 3rd induced 6 days late, 4th induced 3 days late). ALL labours have been very quick, hassle free, so please don't be scared off by horror stories of inductions. Good luck, whenever it happens Smile

Yep, I had DD1 on due date and was induced with DD2. Currently 40+5 with DS1 and expecting to be induced again. 1st labour sounds similar to yours, was slow but fine. Induction was quick. Went in in morning, they examined me at 7pm as I was wanting (begging for) pain relief, was 3cm. She was born at 7.30. So a 30 min labour. The contractions were more intense, but it was over so quick. Would prefer to go natural, but neither way is going to be pleasant. A lot can happen in a few days so try not to worry Smile

Thank you ladies.

Sweep didn't seem too promising yesterday, although a lot can happen in a week. I think I will spend the next few days enjoying pottering around in the free time I have and practising "feeling positive" (!) about induction. If something happens before then, great, if not, I'm sure it's not the end of the world.

Honestly water my 3 inductions were great labours. VERY quick. You do hear horror stories, but then don't we always only complain about the negatives in life ..
Good Luck.
