no signs of labour thus far and have been booked for an induction tomorrow. can I use the pool if i go in to labour before? have spoken to two midwives one said yes- if close to the 24 hour mark (and could get into the pool with antibiotics in my hand) and no if closer to the 48. i feel deflated because have now spoken to another midwife who has said hospital policy is no to getting in to the pool 18 hours after waters have broken. this is my fourth and last child and really wanted a water birth has anyone experienced this? is there a logical argument that I can use to get in the pool?

perhaps just saying you accept the potential risks of going in the water in terms of infection risk for the baby? I do not know how much greater risk of infection there is thought to be, perhaps someone will be along soon with a link to some statistics?
