Is it possible to tear internally and not externally?

Yes. Surgeon who stitched me up under spinal block for internal 2nd degree tears called in head midwife to show her how an intact perineum doesn't necessarily mean no tears!

Yup. I had an internal stitch on the other side. Never quite worked out where it was. Perineum fine.

I had both: a tear to the perineum and one inside the fanoir (on the back wall). Second degree. Both stitched up under local anaesthetic. Healed fine within a week or so.

Yes I had some internal stitches with no anaesthetic Angry and also tore my bladder apparently Confused but that was monitored and left to its own devices thankfully!
