Bump gone soft at 40wks

This is probably a really daft question but I've had a really firm bump all the way through pregnancy but over the last few days it's felt soft and squishier. Baby has been lying on her side on the left for my last couple of checks and the midwife said at my last check as I was 3/5 engaged it was less likely she'd move now.

I'm still feeling movement although possibly not as much in the last few days (although not sure that's because I'm being paranoid!)

Is it likely that she is now back to back? Is there anything else I should be worried about? I'm at that stage now where I just want her out to know that she is safe, I feel like I've waited so long that it's never going to happen!

I'm not sure re going soft but if you've noticed a change in movement then you need to get checked

My bump went soft & floppy on one side at about 39 wks. He was heading for back to back, but it was fine. My movements also changed, though when. Sat down to concentrate, I realised the frequency hadn't changed, just the position of them.

If you have any worries whatsoever about the number of movements, ring the number of whatever midwife service you have. It's almost definitely to do with the changing position of your baby, but always worth checking.

Good luck!

It sounds like she may have moved back to back - is your belly button concave? A noticeable dip there is another sign.

I'd get on the birthing ball, all fours, swimming etc to encourage her to move back again.

Of course, if you have reduction of movements then get checked out, but it sounds likely she's just shifted position.

Thanks for the replies, went in to get checked and soon as they put the monitor on she started doing aerobics in there! The mw was non- committal about her position but since then I think she's back on her side again so hopefully she'll stay put until she finally decides to make an appearance!
