How soon could you lift things after a c section?

I'm thinking in particular of my by-then-16 month old and the nursery run, getting him into the highchair and up and down stairs. How long until I can do these things?

I did them after a week or so I think, whenever it was that dh went back to work. Probably not ideal, but had no choice!

I could do stairs once I was home (day3). Lifting toddler I didn't do unless I was seated (so used mainly arm muscles) and was more helping him up onto sofa for a cuddle for 2w. I think by 4w we were back to normal in terms of physical stuff with toddler.

I could do things like that after 2 weeks but it hurt!I arranged family/DH help until 3weeks.But if you have to do stuff, you will manage, just take the painkillers..You could also get something like a stepping stool to help them climb into the bath/cot/high chair.

Thanks - better than I thought. I was worrying that it would be months. If it just hurts that's ok. Concern was would I break open the scar or something Shock
DH can't get pat leave as will only just have started in new job and I'm limited in the help I can get. I was thinking of getting a mini chair and table for DS to have his meals at, but doesn't solve the stairs problem.

I'd get the mini table and chairs - can LO crawl up stairs on their own? There is a risk you will burst stitches lifting heavy things, particularly for the irist two weeks, although they recommend six weeks. I didn't lift my toddler for two weeks after - she didn't have a bath a few nights.
