If I needed induction last time, statistically, will I this time?

hello!

Last birth in Jan 2011 I was induced at 40 +12 (tbh, couldn't have been soon enough, I LOATHED being overdue). DS born an hour into 40 +15. This was after 2 sweeps, he just wouldn't shift.

This time I am planning a home birth but wondering about the chance of me actually having one, or if I'll need to be induced again. I know there are a lot of anecdotal data (I had one at 40+13 and one at 38 weeks etc) but I was wondering if anyone knew the actual stats?

thanks :)

I was induced at 40+12 with DD & I'm booked in for Tuesday at 40+13. I don't think there's any chance of this one moving without being served an eviction notice either!
I've had a lot more BH with this one & some contraction like pains on & off for the last 10 days so I've got a little bit of hope. I really don't want to be induced again!

No me neither - I would like a homebirth / midwife led unit this time.

Good luck!

No idea but all of mine went really overdue so I decided to be induced, as was my Mum...

bigkidsdidit · 18/01/2013 20:32

My mum was induced too...

I didn't second time round x

Interested in the answer to this too. I was induced last time at 40+8 (waters leaking no contractions) and am booked for induction on Monday when I will be 40 + 12 (so same due date as you pleasenomorepeppa. I had a sweep two days ago and have period like pains today which come and go but I don't think will lead to labour - have also had a show but no sign of baby at all. I wonder if I would EVER go into labour without induction (well obviously I would but when and the baby would probably be at risk)

I've had period pains for ages too. Another sweep tomorrow so fingers crossed. DH has never had me pester him so much for sex & pineapple cores!!
Good luck with your home birth bigkidsdidit & you too for Monday inadreamworld. Smile.

No actual statistics, but while DC3 was a hideous induction, DC4 was the most straightforward, textbook birth of the lot. Good luck :)

Thanks!

And good luck For next week's births!

My birth was actually fine, very positive despite induction, epidural etx. But I would like to know what it is like I go into labour and to feel it!

My second dc was born six hours before I had been booked in to be induced.A much more pleasant experience.

Hi just to say that I had DD2 last Saturday morning - short 4 hr labour, started naturally and we only just got to hospital in time as I didn't realise I was so near to being ready to give birth!! I think the induction I had with DD1 was so painful that the natural labour pains (although awful) were not as bad so I thought I had a while still to go. So in my case, induction first time, 12 hr labour, epidural and haemmorrage - 2nd time naturally went into labour (had membrane sweep 2 days before) gas & air and normal blood loss :)

Congrats :)

Also bigkids the midwife said that DD2 was not overdue at all and may even have been a few days early as she came out with the sticky stuff on her (vernix??) and was quite a small baby....she said they must have got dates wrong. Have a sweep again - I thought it wouldn't work either but it obviously did!! :)
