Just that really. Has anyone given birth there recently? Would you recommend it? It has had a lot of scary press...

I had my dd there 19 months ago when it was in special measures. Like you I was really concerned prior to the birth, and even considered home birth. I needn't have worried though, the midwives were amazing! I was given 1-1 care which is very rare now (in factor was 2-1 since I had a nearly qualified student there the entire time too). I had a quick labour but towards the end needed help as DD had heart decels...a team appeared as if by magic and helped with a ventouse. No fuss and the midwives discussed everything with me before it happened and took into account my preferences.

I was so happy with the way everything went that I'm booked in for my next one (am 39wks now), despite my community MW recommending home birth.
I hope all goes well for you. My NCT group of 6 all had their babies there to and I have yet to hear a bad word about it. Sometimes bad press works in your favour Wink

Good luck!
