Can't feel bladder after c-section

I mean, I have no feeling at all and have to remind myself to go to the loo to see if I need a wee. Am 2.5 weeks post c-section and there's no improvement yet. I'm not incontinent but its quite disconcerting.

Anyone else have this and does the feeling come back? Please say yes!

Thanks. I did get to 9.5 cm so I guess there's a chance it could be unrelated to the actual c- section.

It took about eight weeks to feel mine again after a ventouse delivery. Don't worry just make sure you go to the loo really regular so bladder doesn't get distended as then it could lose sensation. Sounds like you're already doing that though Smile

It should improve - but, mention it to your health visitor.

Sometimes, the catheter can cause an irritation and that can lead to a loss of sensation.

6 weeks is endlessly repeated as a timeline for good reason - it takes a good 6 weeks for all the swelling and shrinking and hormones to settle down. So, don't worry, it's early doors - but, get it checked out.

And, congrats.

Just to say same as the others really. I had this after elective c section. Can't remember how long feeling took to come back, maybe 6 to 8 weeks. But agree you should speak to health pro anyway as they may have advice.

6 weeks here after emcs.

I had this after a VB, they said it was the epidural but I didn't get it after my ELCS so Confused. Mine gradually came back over 6 weeks but it was definitely something I discussed with the physio and she gave me tips for "encouraging" the feelings. One of them was to pat your tummy where your bladder is with your fingertips (like imitating raindrops) to help the wee come out when you're on the loo and whilst you can't feel make sure you fully empty you bladder by leaning forwards a bit (try it when you think you've finished, I can still get a bit more out doing that Blush).

Unfortunately almost ANY damage/difference won't be looked into before your 6/8 week check, all they'll do is send you away, tell you you're still healing and to come back then. I'd personally go to the GP anyway and try to get in early for a referral. Hope it gets better soon.

Yep, it can be a complicated thing, and slow to recover. Well, slower than you need with a small baby and a wound to look after.

take your time on the loo, but don't bear down and try to "push" the wee out.

Doing your pelvic floor exercises can help too (I know, I know, you've all heard it before) because they help to flush away the inflammation.

Hold 10, 10 quick flicks - repeat. repeat. repeat.

There's some info on my website - have a look at my profile there's a link there (don't want to fall foul of advertising!)

It's hard to remember to do pfexs - I tweet to remind you (stick an @ in front of my name)

But, yep, get it followed up, don't put up with it.

Hello there,
I’ve just had a C section and I’m literally in exactly the same boat. I had my little boy 5 days ago and I am emptying my bladder but have lost the sensation of needing a wee. I have the exact same symptoms that you have. I know this post is from 2013 but I just am worrying and wondered if you fully recovered the sensation to wee again?

Thank you 😊

Niki did this issue resolve itself for you? Did you need any treatment? 3 weeks post c section and I’m still struggling with this
