Hi, I would like to go home ASAP after giving birth, is there a number of hours after which your risk of likelyhood of serious bleeding goes down?

I have a history of bleeding

thanks

My local hospital has a policy of a minimum of 6 hours after giving birth before you can go home. I guess this is so they can do all the paperwork and make sure you and baby are ok.

I would imagine if you have a history of bleeding you may not be allowed to go that quickly. It would depend on your birth, time of day, length of labour etc.

You could ask your midwife, they would be able to tell you.

If you've got a history which may complicate things then only your midwife is going to be able to give you an idea. Ask her lots of what if questions to find out what their limits are e.g if you loose _ amount of blood within _ hrs then is it advisable to stay in or will they refuse to discharge you.
Find out what you can do to help reduce the risks if possible.

oops, didn't mean to underline all that!
